anyone else find blooming as a bleh! alot of games take the bloom effect to make it seem as if the game is gfxly better.. but it's just light that blinds you X_X imo atleast.. bloom just makes me blind.. X_x what's you guys' take on it?
I like hdr more... counter strike soruce it messes me up so badly, i like the maps with no hdr, i can actualyl see lol. But every other game it looks great especially far cry, oblvion, and half life 2.
i like hdr and bloom, what i hate is the "eye adaptation effect" found in these lighting techniques. You know, when you look a the sun and then 3 seconds after the light intensity decreases.
HDR was used pretty poorly in Oblivion, it just felt tacked on and overused. HL2 e1 used it the best imo (i think valve developed hdr and showcased it with their lost coast tech demo).

I have the opposite opinion.
Best hdr I've seen in a current game is Graw 360. Best simulation of a sunny day until Crysis comes.
