I use the Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard, its way less then 100 though, i think i paid around 25 or so for it... i ended up liking it a lot so i bought about 5 more brand new ones a few years ago incase they ever stopped making it and my keyboard broke... and theres always a chance... even though i've never had one completely fail, sometimes keys can go bad or stick after a while.

It all depends on what your looking for... i liked the layout and feel of the keys and i liked where to volume/pause/start controls were on the top left of the keyboard.

Looking back on it i maybe should have bought 10 of them, i don't think they make them anymore.

I don't think u have to spend 100 bucks, 30-50 dollars should get you a fine keyboard. Mine was less then 25 and its quality is unmatched.

The thing with mechanical keyboards is that they are expensive, sadly. I much prefer to go for one mainly because of the durability and accessibility that it has. I honestly would go for a cheaper keyboard if I saw something that was at least decent for gaming/programming, but I have not seen anything that I find to be the one.

Maybe one from the Ducky Shine series? They are not too expensive and are good quality, with good back lighting and customizable keys.

For the non mechanical side, most people including myself would suggest you try a microsoft sidewinder x4. I use it for gaming and programming all the time.

I'm willing to actually throw down 50 dollars more. It sounds like the keyboards for 150 are going to last those extra years. The ducky shine 3 has been my top pick, but I have to wait a few days till it becomes available. Are there any other brands you guys recommend? Supposedly, two years ago Ducky made some cheap keyboards, so I'm guessing they upped their quality the last 2 years or so?

Stay away from the BWU. Although I am using one right now, I would not purchase it again. The space bar is junk and sticks regularly.

Corsair k70 hands down. Red keys if exclusively gaming, blues if mainly going to be typing, and brown for a happy median (what I went with) that also is quieter. I have had mine for a while and have not had any LEDs go out on me (supposedly a problem that ocurrs). Build quality is great. Very durable with a metal "faceplate," non recessed keys which makes it really easy to clean dust and stuff out. Has a detachable wrist rest that comes with it and media keys (two other big selling points for me at least).

I think you can find them for like 120$. They also make one with macro keys called the k90 for a bit more if you want them.

Corsair isn't an option for me. I just don't like the design. My stand currently is with the ducky shine 3 and the das keyboard ultimate .

I've got the Ducky Zero Shine with Browns and I love it. It's only $125, and the non shine version is even cheaper.

Ooooh, I really like how the keys are labelled there.
