Lately, I am playing Caesar 4 and Pharaoh. I like them quite a bit, although Caesar 4 has some camera issues.

Anyone still playing these games? Its almost a dead genre right now.

I play SimCity 4 on occasion, and Cities XL looks pretty neat.

Although not really a city building game, I enjoy making houses in The Sims 3.

Its too bad that game like this are no more. I would have loved to see a 3D version of Pharaoh. I would definitely buy that one.

That's the way to go. I recently finished the first mission in middle kingdom. I have been playing this game for about 4 years now!

Yeah, I'm rubbing my hands together for Anno 1404 (Dawn of Discovery in the USA). Looks absolutely gorgeous - definitely the most beautiful city-builder I've seen, and from the demo I'd say they've really refined the gameplay from previous titles. I'm expecting this one to swallow up a good couple of months of my life :P

It's been a while, but I'm looking forward for CitiesXl (and I still hate that name... they should have stayed with Cities Unlimited)

Tropico 3 is also a game I'm looking forward to play

i do like them and had some good fun with games like simcity, ceasar III (i think it was the third) and tropico. however i find they never keep me entertained or challenged for very long. once i find the trick to a sort of "balanced growth" formula, which all these games seem to contain, it doesn't take long for me to stop seeing the point of continuing. sounds like i might have to give pharaoh a go though,

Pharaoh is a lot like Caesar 3 with improved visuals (relatively speaking). But its got monuments and its a lot more challenging - in a good way.

I know it may be hard to believe but I still really enjoy playing SimCity 2000. I've looked at all the other SimCity titles that came after that and for some reason I always end up going back to the classic.

After having checked the screenshots, I think so, but I feel its going to be way more complex than that, hopefully in a good way.

I haven't played a city building game since the original Sim City. Oddly enough, I like those games, but they were never my gaming priority. Dawn of Discovery looks great though. I should download the demo sometime tonight.

Last such game I played was Grand Ages Rome released this year which was pretty interesting, nothing new but still fun. I heard Anno 1404 is pretty amazing too, I am holding off buying it for now though.

Yep, still have Pharaoh installed and still play it regularly. I bought this game the week it came out in '99 :) and think it's the best from all these ancient city builder games. I have yet to play a game from Tilted Mill that i like despite those guys being the old Impressions team that created Pharaoh. But a new version is due - and to re-enforce - from someone other than Tilted Mill. Give them a 3rd chance to butcher another great game series.

I have toyed with City Life 2008, kinda like SimCity Societies (though of course it came first). I also play CivCity: Rome now and then - pretty good though not as much of a focused city building game - it has good graphics. I also tried out Age of Discovery Demo today, it has alot going for it; not as focused as the old city sims though (I should reinstall SC 4 to see if W7 can run it ok)

If you like city building game, try Down of Discovery that has been recently out. It is amasing game! Great visuals, very complex build sturcture, and good campaign. What more can one ask?

I'm a big fan of city-builders. I think I've done them all: Pharaoh, Ceasars, Zeus, Emperor, City Life, Sim Cities, CivCity Rome, Grand Ages Rome, Imperium Romanum (I was pretty impressed by that, kept me busy for weeks), Tycoon City New York (also great), Children Of The Nile...and many more.

I wish somebody came up with a good city-builder, possibly set in Greece (I think it's safe to safe we're pretty much done with Roman locations). Tilted Mill could do something interesting, provided it wouldn't be as stupid as COTN.

I recently bought Grand Ages Rome and intend on buying Dawn of Discovery. I played a little 1701 AD recently as well.
