A space sim game i want

Hello nice to meet everyone i'm an old user which had not posted for years...

I need help to find a particular game, 1)a space sim, 2)in third person view, 3)with rpg elements and rankings, 4)possibly with the possibility to buy a new ships... instead the first one you are given in the game 5) with every single ship upgradable (with a slot system) with new weapons and other extras 6) with some freedom to play "non storyline tied" missions like commerce escort killing aliens or space monsters limitlessly 7) possibly with the ships upgradable with external UAV (:s) 8) possibility to join clans or corporations and being paid for it ^_^ 9)gives me a coffee in the morning (just joking)

n.b.: i DON'T care if the game is old really

i already have 2 of 3 of these games... but in dark star one you have ONLY one little ship and cant buy a new one

in x3 i cant use the third view person screen because i tried to find it failing maybe you can help me (i hate the first person view can you say it?) and i've found the slot system in x3 a bit mmmm "hard"

X2 almost the same like X3... I don't know why game developers didn't make such games recently... I've played Star Trek Legacy but there's no freedom in it...

I'll tell you what's on my mind... Hans Solo Adventure/RPG flying from planet to planet, pirating, trading, become mercenary, bounty hunter or even Jedi, dating beautiful woman, save the Princess(just like in Star Wars), everything that's possible to do in Star Wars... I hope LucasArts games studio make a game like this in the future...

Jokes apart you centered my "objective" for the gameplot... of course starfleet command e star trek legacy are good games but they are way far into the main quest to give you some freedom -.-. I dunno if you know sid meier's pirates... i asked in the civs forums sid (there is the possibility to ask him questions in those days) if he will make a pc game on sid meier's space spirates (lol). If you know sid meiers pirates you know also that a game like it plotted in space would be the same as you and i are describing tenma-cha... AHEM aldouz

i was thinking to try x-com as well, only it it's not an rts like age of empires, if it's a mix like space rangers it's okxaeforn

not familiar with space rangers, but XCOM is a turn based game when you are in the action. get to build multiple bases around the world. build numerous planes/fighters.

conquer explore think build, the kind of game where you lead an empire... seems like x2 x1 and x3 reunion games but the difference is this: there you start with a SINGLE man and have more freedom ^_^

i mean x-com is like an age of empire in turn mod

@ducks: i discarded freelancer but i don't remember why... maybe it's online ?_? unfortunately i don't have anymore time to play at absurd hours to avoid cruel pks anymore... if so i could've played the little dark orbit

I think that Space Rangers 2 definitely fits the bill on what you're looking for. Just have to remember 2 things about that game:

1. It's all turn-based (except for the planet missions...those are RTS style games)
2. The game is played from an isometric perspective. You control your ship...but the controls are more like individual ship controls in Galactic Civilization 2 or other TBS games (you click, the path shows up, and your ship takes that path to get there).

You might want to try out the demo for Space Rangers 2 to see if it's really something you'd be interested in.

Oh, and to answer your question: yes, there are shields...but they work differently than how you might think. All shields do in SR2 is mitigate a percentage of damage done to you.

The only games that seem to fit your criteria are the X Series and Freelancer. I'm surprised you didn't care for Freelancer, you don't have to play it multiplayer and there are plenty of mods to download that add to the game, both singleplayer and multiplayer. I had fun with me and my friends with mods that added battles with large fleets and capital ships etc.

It's a sad thing but Space Sims are a dying genre so it would be really hard to find a Space Sim if you are picky. I too would love the "Grand Theft Auto" of Space Sims or in other words a vastly open sandbox Space Sim with nearly limitless things to do but the only developers making these games are indy developers which have low budgets to work with.

I don't know if this has everything you were looking for, but google 'Evochron Renegades.' It's an indy game (developed by one guy, actually) but it has fairly non-linear play and upgradable ships. Again, I've only tried the demo and keep meaning to buy the full version, but it seems like it might be something you're looking for.

And basically the game you described is my dream game.

Or that. It's a shame that someone hasn't pull their head(s) out of their butts and realized how if done well could be such a great thing for Space Simulation game genre. I mean just follow the formula from the Original Privateer, and just make it modern and improve it the areas of graphics, gameplay, exploration, etc.

Have you tried Nexus: the Jupiter Incident..that game will blow you away..though it doesn't have everything you want but still its one of the best space tactical sim games..too bad they devs won't make a sequel..

Dude there is only one game that has everything you are asking for and has so much more to offer and that is Eve-Online, I have played that game for almost 4 years now and when it comes to Space Sims or Space anything Eve-online is the way to go. Type Eve-Online into GS serach tab above and look for there 14 day free trial and you can download the game for free and you need no credit card or anythign to try the trial. So give it a shot as someone mentioned above yes it is quite a steep learning curve but once you got it there will be endless hours of fun.

And not only can you have Coffee in the morning you can have exotic dancers as well :D

I guess i just don't have the money to support a eve online adventure T.T

though during the trial i have seen the game has an hard learning curve
