Have you tried cleaning the dust off?flyingsnail
I second this. There's probably a hefty amount of dust in between the fan and the heatsink. Try blowing some compressed air through the exhaust port and see if that helps any.

i'll try it The 8800gt is a hot card, at load temperatures about 85-90c with the stock cooling isn't unusual, some reviews does point that out.8800gt @ 88c stock cooler.
But 95c is to high, the best way to find out it taking apart the cooler and clean it, reffiting the cooler with some new cooling paste.
Clean out the dust and make sure you dont have the 196.75 drivers. Also use rivatuner to set fan profiles to launch at certain temps. I have an 8800 GT and a good idle fan speed that cools and is still quiet is 45%. Theres a good tutorial on youtube on how to set up the fan profiles/scheduler. I'd post it but I'm on a college computer.Spartan8907Why not adress the problem rather than working around it, if the cooler is filled with dust setting the fan higher is just a way to work around the problem not fixing it.
You could use just about any thermalpaste but a non-conducting one is best when some off paste always tend to be pressed around the die. Be sure to clean the cooler and chipset with pharm-alcohol before you apply new thermalpaste, If you had problems with high Gram temps you should also use new thermalPADS.Opened it up , think its the termenal paste , where can i get some ? and what do i need to know to ? will it work with a 8800gt ? . not too expensive please.
links plz

Don't use as much as Nvidia did, you should apply alot less. This is a guide on how to re apply paste on a 9600gt. (The one you have should look like it if you use the stock cooler.)
Again, you can use just about any thermal paste compound but don't use that much as some are cunducting and with that on your PCB/chipset pins you can fry something!
Edit: When you have your cooler all of, unscrew the plastic and clean the radiator fins from any sign of dust.
