I am getting a brand new rig in a few weeks and here are the specs I'm looking at:

  • AMD ATHLONTM 64 X2 6000+ (3.0GHz) 2 x 1MB L2 Cache (Socket AM2)
  • 2GB CORSAIR DDR2 667MHz
  • WINDOWS® XP HOME SP2
  • 512MB GEFORCE 8800GTS OR 512MB GEFORCE 8800GT
  • 500W (Peak) Quiet Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan

I've been looking around and some people say the GTS is better, others say the GT is better. I want the best card out of the two. I want the card that will last the longest, running the latest games at high settings. Which do you think I should buy? To be honest, there isn't MUCH of a price difference, so theres no trouble there. Also I will be playing games at 1440*900.

Thanks.

Becasue intel is just better right now. It's not even a contest especially if you are interested in overclocking your CPU but even if not it's not much of a contest.

There are several different versions of the GTS. Just be aware of that when you see people arguing about them.

The old ones are 320mb and 640mb. The GT beats these.

The newer ones are 512mb. These beat the GT.

Very good choice, I just used both of those in my build and am extremely pleased. As someone else mentioned you should get a better quality power supply.
