Sorry this isn't a hardware question.... but oh well...

What I'm wondering is.... Is Windows 7 coming as a 32bit OS or 64bit or both?

I really want to switch to a 64 bit OS... and since Win 7 is supposed to be alot better than XP and Vista, I figured I'd just wait.

Edit* I'm guessing Win 7 will be available as a 32 bit OS and 64 bit... it makes the most sense, but this is MS after all.

Win7 is Both... you dont buy a 32 bit or a 64 bit, it is capable of switching between them itself when needed. (I guess it works kinda like the 64bit vista)

It will be available as both but i'ld hang on to a 32bit copy of XP to make sure you can still run all your programs, you can dual boot or even better virtulise it.

I believe what he is referring to is WOW64, which is a subsystem in 64 bit windows that runs individual programs in 32-bit mode to ensure compatibility. That being said, you are right - there will be both 32 and 64 bit versions of windows. Though I can't say I understand why. They should really just push for all 64 bit. I don't see any reason to go with 32 bit at this point.
