There have been many good reviews for the Westinghouse 37w3 as a great bargain 1080p set. Here's a link to another forum with lots of pictures and reviews:

The 51D Samsung is a great TV for the price, don't worry about those extra 5 inches, the Samsung will fit you more.

It's the difference between 1366x768 and 1920x1080 resolution.

In my opinion 1080p on anything less than 40" is absolutely worthless, and even then its tough to tell a difference between 720p...

For 1080p viewing I recommend at least a 46" screen.  People will say all day that the difference is huge but I just don't buy that and I've stared at TV's of all sizes (including this Westinghouse and Samsung) for hours and hours.

Samsung is one of the best companies out there for TV at the moment.  They've mastered 720p.  I'd go for that.

It's true 1080p on something at 37" is not very useful at far range, but I'm use to a forum where guys are using the 37w3 as a monitor/hdtv and they use it from 3-5ft away.

At 10ft away, 1080p and 720p will look pretty much the same.
