This weeks weekly sale at the Humble Bundle store is games from Codemasters.

  • Overlord
    • Raising Hell DLC
  • Rise of the Argonauts
  • Operation Flashpoint: Red River
  • Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

Also if you pay more than 6$ you get these 3 games as well.

  • Dirt Showdown
  • Dirt 3
  • Overlord 2

Soundtrack to Rise of the Argonauts is also included. What you guys think of this deal?

Personally went ahead and bought all of it. I've played Dirt 2 and that was fun, expecting the same for Dirt Showdown and 3. Though I might buy a wired X360 controller for those two games. I've tried Overlord and from what I can remember it was fun. If not, well then I haven't wasted to much on this.

Overlord games are normally like £3 for the set in steam sales, but they're fun so i'd recommend them.

Personally the only game i'd want is Dirt 3 so I won't bother.

Seems a great deal to me, I don't have any of these games. Grabbed it this morning so looking forward to trying some of them out.

I only got one of them and be the Overlord on X360... But the other, especially Dirt games makes this deal worth the money in my opinion.

Great deal IMO, but I've heard many people complain that DiRT 3 isn't working with Steam, you can check it's community page.

It comes all bundled up together. And humble bundle accounts as of a few weeks ago from what I was able to tell is now linked to your Steam account. If you purchase it as a gift, be ready to give the whole lot to that special someone. And guys, don't be cheap. Contribute more than a $1. :P

Hey I paid 25$ for it... :x And yeah they are tied to your account now so I don't think you can gift a single game anymore. :(

On one hand that is an amazing deal, on the other hand, the games that use GFWL will be unplayable in a few months.

But that's not the same as them running without GFWL.

You can with some bundles, you can't with others. It's the publisher or developer that decides if their games are bundled or not. So in this case, Codemasters made them bundled.

Anyway, I definitely recommend using a 360 controller for games like Dirt, it feels great. And yeah, Overlord is a lot of fun, the sequel is even better :)

Weren't games supposed to be updated/patched so GFWL was no longer needed? I mean since they are taking it down anyway they should do that.

@horgen123: Yeah, the games should be patched. At least that is what we demand as consumers: to buy a working product, a game that doesn't work just now, but in the future as well.

Dunno if every company will go and patch their games. If we take a look at the list: List of GWFL titles. We see that only a small number of games have been patched thus far, and the announcement of GFWL closing dates back to august last year.

Codemasters has said that Dirt 3 will be patched. But what if I want to go back to Dirt 2 ? Will I still be able to play it in the future ? Will I still be able to play other games that haven't been patched yet ?

I kind of bothers me that sites (humble bundle, but others as well) are selling games with an uncertain future.

@R4gn4r0k: just looked through that list and it seems I have 16 of those games... main one id be worried about is the street fighter games (capcom already said they were patching)... but they better patch the rest!

Lol I completely forgot about Humble Bundle, hope I didn't miss any good deals. :/

Anyway I already own/have beat the Overlord games and Dirt 3 on ps3. Don't care about Showdown and looking at my backlog I'm not sure if I'll ever play the Flashpoint games and Rise of the Argonauts. >_>
So I'll probably pass on this one and Flashpoint looks a little meh to me anyway.

That said I had a lot of fun with the Overlord games and recommend them to anyone that hasn't played them yet and is a fan of the genre.

All of them should be. I forgot that Dark Souls also uses GFWL... Now I do got the PS3 version of the game so not a deal breaker for me, but still I will be pissed if I can't play it because GFWL is stopped and From Software doesn't bother to patch it.

Edit: Isn't only these games that still require GFWL?

That list are the ones that have been patched already. Yeah, I do hope From will patch Dark Souls as well, as I haven't played the game yet.

@R4gn4r0k: oh. Well I do got several of those games, still hope the rest of the GFWL games I got will be patched. Can't be that much work, can it?

@horgen123: It's not much work, but it is work. And I think some companies won't bother going back to their old games to fix them, because they have moved on to new projects (Rockstar for example). But they are still selling the game and they are obligated to give people a working game.
