I am upgrading my Cpu from Intel core i7-2600K to i7-4770K and im confused on motherboard.

My Two options right now are GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SOC and MSI Z97 XPOWER AC.So my question is which one should i get and why or please recommend me a new one.(im tilting towards the gigabyte one as it has 1 x SATA Express)

Thank you.

PS: I'm not waiting for the i7-4790 :p

Also suggest me which RAM to buy as by the end of the month ill be upgrading that tooo :)

i7 4790K: Release Date: 06/25/2014.

You are not waiting 3 days? :O

Also you are comparing a $188.99 product vs a $399.99 product. GIGABYTE mobo seems too good value for money. From this two I would go with GIGABYTE.

Now as for RAM it depends on your CPU cooler. What kind of memory clearence it has...

Those MOBOs are highest end, are you sure you want to pull such money on such expensive MOBO? if you're not going to SLI/Crossfire up to 4 GPUs and use it as a benchmark rig, I really can't recommend you getting one of those.

About the RAM, you'll have to answer my question 1st so I'd know if you're going for benchmarking or just regular gaming.

There's really no reason to go from a 2600k to a 4770k. You might even end up with a slower CPU.

I agree to the 1st part.

But ending up with a slower CPU? So i7 2600K is faster than i7 4770K? I thought I have heard/read everything at PC forums, but people always surprise me...

They way I read it (along the way he worded it) basically translates to "you might end up with a slower CPU since you have maybe already overclocked your current CPU".

He's basically saying if he has already overclocked his 2600K (which is a good possibility) than a $300+ CPU straight out of the box might actually be equal/slower at stock speeds

Well, there are a lot of "ifs" here... So "if" he o/ced the 2600K, why not to o/c the 4770K as well, since he is looking for good o/c mobos?

Your taking his small tidbit at the end of a sort response (not even his main point ) and making it too important/literal (he's basically trying to poke fun and say that you might have to potentially overclock a freaking $300+ product to beat his current product which Is a funny observation).

Any simple Z87 or Z97 MOBO for 75$ and above, but not a 200-300$ MOBOs.

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/motherboard/#m=7,8,18,27&c=89,99&sort=a8 (I recommend on the MSI PC Mate)

If you're looking for SLI/Crossfire in the future: http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/motherboard/#m=7,8,18,27&c=89,99&sort=a8&l=2 there're plenty to choose from (100-120$ range, I recommend on the ASRock Fatal1ty Killer)

Well I made fun also of his comment so, I don't understand, why are you upset? But to be honest, you or me or anyone don't know about op's knowledge about PC hardware. Maybe for you or for me $$ might mean nothing. But there are people that hard earn that money. So I prefer making things clear. Do you believe that this is wrong?
