Total War Rome 2 is 35 GB!

This may be old news to some of you but I was shocked how much hard drive space Rome 2 will need. 35 gig. That's one mother of an install.

Yup, I guess they got a lot of maps. This will be the biggest vanilla install of a game yet.

There goes me playing that game Right out the window.

Yep, knew this for a while which why I went with the physical copy. 

It seems to surpass The Force Unleashed's 30GB, though it would be more understandable for Rome 2 to have that much than TFU.

Why was the pre-load so small ? It was less than 1/3rd of that.

TFU was 30GB of crap, Rome 2 will be 35GB of awesomeness.

30 GB? That's nothing. X-Plane 10 requires over 73 GB for the install. I wonder from how long until we see games topple over the 1 TB mark... I remember when I first installed Descent 3 back in 1999, you needed a full 1 GB of hard disk space for the full installation. Fun times.

Seems to bea bout right. Shogun 2 and it's DLCs were pretty big as well and this seems to have more content 

Wow, didn't even realize when I preloaded it. This game is gonna be absolutely epic. Gonna be locked in the house for a couple days after it releases @_@.

No, initially it's a 9.9GB download and about 18GB installation. They put 35GB in there keeping future updates in mind. And TW games have always been hugegigatrainer

This is the reason here. 35GB is a safe measure for future DLCs, which is a relief on my poor internet... but it kind of speaks volumes for what CA/Sega might have in mind.

My internet will have it downloaded in maybe 45 minutes :)

Wow that's some interweb connection you have. I'll need about 30 minutes(ish) to get it

Running a little slow, should be 120Mb/s but it is lunchtime on Saturday so the pipes will be a little clogged, I'm not going to quibble over 15 Mb/s though.

To be honest though I wouldn't care if it was 100 GB HDD space and it took me a week to download it.

I'll be getting the disc version. I live way out in the country and our DSL speed is on the really low end. But can't wait to play it!

Dammit, i bought the disc version and it came this morning...now i get to stare at the case for over 2 days unable to play the damn thing until tuesday.....Oh the cruelty!

Do you need to download some files for it to work, or an activation code? If not just switch off your internet and play ;)

It needs activating through steam and steam does not unlock it till midnight on monday ...it's 2013 where have you been ;) , most major games are like this now :P

With 12 mbps internet speed it only took me 3h to download it.
