Wow that is low. I remember when I ran 3D Mark 05 on ym old XP 2800+ and MSI FX5600 and I got 320.

Um yean.... The X300 has a PCI-E x16 slot.. and the Pentium D is a 775 chip...

You act like the thing is ancient. It isn't really that old. The only thing really holding him back with 3Dmark06 is his video card, which he is upgrading. He's not going to get blazing numbers, but it's not as though it's a lost cause or anything.

True... The X300 SE supports C2D right? I could check but I assume you did already before deciding to order it right?

True... The X300 SE supports C2D right? I could check but I assume you did already before deciding to order it right?



What exactly about the graphics card could be incompatible with the processor?  I'm sure they have nothing to do with one another.  Only the motherboard matters.

Duh... The X300 SE is a graphics card.. I mixed that up with the Xpress 300 chipset... which has a X300 SE card built in...

my pc got something like 200 without any graphics card and no overclocking, it gets about 4500 now

I used to get that kind of score...in the mid hundreds...but then I moved from a geforce 6200 pci to a 6800XT agp, and that made a huge difference. All other specs are the same, and now I get just over 3000. I wouldn't have thought it would make that much of a difference, but I'm not complaining. Especially since I just ordered a new processor (going from a 2.0 400mhz fsb to a 3.2 800mhz fsb), which should help even more. Now to get better RAM... I sure wish computer stuff wasn't so expensive. I know I'm upgrading to outdated components, but I just don't have the funds to be anything less than a year or two behind the technology curve.

a 775 socket does not automatically mean it will support a core 2 duo. Make sure to check it (if you haven't already) or post your mobo.

It's basically a benchmarking program aimed at the gamer crowd. It runs a bunch of tests on your system and then awards you a score in "3dmarks". These numbers would be pretty arbitrary, but 3dmark is the benchmark, and everyone uses it, so it allows you to compare your system against many other people to see where you stand. Higher is better. It's made by a company called Futuremark. Google them, and you'll come up with it.

I DID have exactly the smae other than an integrated chipset tha ATI radeon xpress 200(i loved it) and got 759!!!! go ati chipsets

I expect my older computer would get a really old score (P4 3Ghz and a 9800XT). I have not installed 3DMark on it though.

Your right I think it was an old 2800+ sempy i used to have. I should bench that really old on tho i wish it coudl run it.
