Someone had this problem with any steam related game? If so, please help me find a solution. I feel I've tried everything and I'm getting frustrated. Thank you in advance

K, Well, There is over 40 gb free disk space on the hard drive, and the game I am trying to install is Empire Total War. I'm using Windows Vista and my connection is more than potent. I did download the demo when it was released and played it to great satisfaction, but now that I've bought the full version boxed set it doesn't install nor download. Just keep popping up "This Game Cannot Be Installed" and I should be able to, my system does more than meet the requirements.

Yeah, It just says "Steam is now downloading Empire: Total War. You can check "My games" to follow the progress. But there is no progress, It never even starts, actually, it never even appears!! It's not like it's stuck on 0% or anything, but IT NEVER APPEARS, no matter what I do. Steam is a bit weird isn't it?

Hi YekkO, I experienced the same issue. When I purchased the game I received an extra slip with a code for "extra goodies" (no idea what they should be, afaik I purchased the "normal" version, so no extra units or whatever). Anyway, I used that code, it got accepted and the game registered on my Steam account. But I ended up at the infamous "The game cannot be installed" message every bloody single time I attempted to install the game. I tried everything short of setting up my PC anew including un-installing and re-installing Steam. Then I realised there is another code printed on the back of the manual (different from the slip). I tried that and am currently installing the game! I am somewhat annoyed that Steam doesn't tell you about that and only shoots the "This game cannot be installed" message at you without any further info. The code is a valid one as it gets accepted yet Steam will not allow you to install the game with it. How annoying. Anyway, use the code printed on the back of the manual - I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Here is a novel idea.........Contacting the makers of what ever software you are having problems with. It will probably get you an answer faster then posting it on a random forum where all you will get are a bunch of people guessing.

If only. Believe me, I have contacted support starting from Steam over CA and Sega, so far no response (other than one generic "uninstall Steam, re-install and try again" and if that fails "install windows fresh, then install Steam and insert your DVD"). Support unfortunately only is called so due to sentimental reasons I assume.

I have a solution to this issue:

Once in Steam click on the Ghosts banner. Go to the Store Page of COD:GHOSTS. It will say, highlighted green, that you have the game and there's a PLAY NOW option. Click that and start downloading for a second. Stop your download. Insert your Disc One. Click REINSTALL.

I hope this helps everyone.

See you in game.

Try running steam as admin. It may not have the privileged of writing to your hard drive. Also try switching download servers.
