Star Wars: KOTOR - to buy, or not to buy?

I'm sitting here on Steam with my mouse hovering over the "add to cart" button.....for $10, it seems like a great opportunity to experience an old classic that I missed out on for my original Xbox. Also, because it was for the original Xbox, I'm assuming this wont put too much stress on my CPU as well? My rig isn't too hot. :(

Should I suck it up and go through with it or should I go to Taco Bell and buy $10 worth of their new Pacific Shrimp Taco?

I wasn't a big fan of it, but I know others are. If you at least have a video card you shouldn't have much trouble running it, it was never a very demanding game, even when it was first released. Even with some kind of integrated video, you should still be able to run it at lower settings. Framerate isn't too important in a game like KOTOR anyway.

I thought KOTOR 1 had one of the best storylines that Bioware has ever come up with. I won't say much to ruin it, but I really enjoyed it! You, in true Bioware fashion, can tailor your actions for good or evil. I really liked the final fight. The game however is tedious in some areas and plays a little slower than what we are used to know. But hell, KOTOR will give a few weeks entertainment while that taco bell with blow through you in an hour*it does with me :(*

That picture has convinced me to never eat at Taco Bell if I ever go to the USA. That food looks like the most disgusting thing ever. So go with KOTOR.kieranb2000

I can't even play it, so I wouldn't waste my money. I got to play it before, but now it just doesn't start up. It was a really good game, but a lot of good a game does if you can't play it.

Yes, also I do not suggest eating seafood from a fast food place the same way I suggest not eating eggs from a fast food place.

Well, it has trouble running in Windows Vista and 7 (more so in 7) so if you're willing to take the chance that it may not work for you, go for it; it's an amazing game, in my opinion.

The game has got a really nice story but the gameplay is where it falls flat. And the game's graphics are drab. It should run on older computers (make sure you download the latest ATI drivers if you have an older card) without much trouble. If you can, try and save up money for BioWare's newer games.

I'll admit, the gameplay is a little boring at times.

But KOTOR is an AMAZING game, and a really good story. It's fairly cheap too.

I was doing the same thing last night lol and i bought it and im liking it so far. The graphics are not as bad as i thought they would be and the story seems cool so far but i m only like 2.30 hours in to it. its not as good as mass effect but its easly worth the money.

It was the best RPG last gen. Won GOTY just about everywhere except Gamespot. Possibly the best game overall last gen. Get it, now. 8)

I've started and tried to play the KOTOR's multiple times because of all the great things so many people have said about it. It must be just me but I cannot get into them... I couldn't get into the Baulder's gate series either. I played more of Neverwinter Nights but still couldn't finish it. The only game I really enjoyed in this vein was Planescape: Torment (and the Fallout series if that counts). Maybe I just don't like the party based systems of these games but like to go it alone? Just my two cents.
