Hello fellow RPG fans,

I have question. I just love romances in computer games which was great in Baldur's Gate II and was good in Fallout II, but after NWN Expansion SotU failure, I couldn't find any other good RPG games with a good romance scenario. Yes, I know Mass Effect and finished it lots of times but getting same dialogs and same romance scenes are just boring me.

My best romance game was Baldur's Gate II, lots of dialogs, lots of options was very good, but only bad thing about that is real time timers to advance romance levels.

I know many of you will say go play Sims or get a girlfriend like things but I am a DnD player and I want nearly same things from computer.

Is there any game or games which can tastify my needs?

The Witcher is the game for you my friend. You won't be worrying about boring dialogue if you get what I mean ;)

I got The Witcher Enhanced Edition but, after playing first chapter (I defeated first boss below castle) and stopped there. Is that game really worth playing?

Mass Effect, it's a very western RPG but the story is great, there is a whole heap of dialogs and there is romance if you choose there to be.

Jade Empire has some romance options. Personally I think they are some of Biowares weaker romances. However, if you're interested there are three possiblities in the game.

The Witcher does have "possiblities" they are more along the line of a one night stand then the romances that you saw in Baldur's Gate II.

There are several modder made romances for Baldur's Gate II the can be found at pocketplane.net and gibberling3.net.

the "romance" in The Witcher is nothing compared to that in BG2.

Bioware are still best at handling RPG romance; KotOR and Jade Empire have decent romance subquests, and ME's is far worse.

the only advice to OP from me would be the romance mods of BG2. there're several, and some even with sound sets. if you haven't tried them. if you already did, there's nothing better or even close to BG2 romance experience to be had in CRPG.

KotoR has a decent romance. Much better than Jade Empire, at the least. Don't even bother with Jade for the romance (its ultimately a disappointing game, doubly so for its lame romance).

In The Witcher you collect sex cards... hardly romantic, lol. (never got far enough to see if there was any real romance... lame quests/boring combat)

I know there are romance mods for both Baldur's Gate I & II...

If you don't mind scrapping the whole RPG/gameplay element to get to just the romance/dialogue, I'd suggest checking some Japanese visual novels... there are a few good ones... most have pornographic content, though. Maybe Crescendo or Tsukihime. There was a time when my graphics card died that I had to resort to less intensive software, lol.

kotor romance was crap...the witcher is more real life romance not cheesy nonsense straight out a chick flick.btw the first chapter isnt the best in the witcher.theres always emulators...jrpgs like their romance.Shadow hearts 1 and 2 for ps2 had a great romance tale but i realide thats not for pc...but its one of the best romance tales ive encountered especially the first shadow hearts with alice..

KotOR 1 was a good game, dialogs were good too but game ended too quick. I liked how your reactions against Bastila changed how she reacts against you. I tried several addons from sorcerers.net for BGII. Imoen's Romance and Nalia's Romance was good but installing too many addons made scripts unstable and naturally game hung from time to time and also (especially in dreams) cutscenes just got frozen. Maybe I am doing something wrong on mod installing, dunno.

I never played Jade Empire, still don't know if I can buy it or not.

there are more, and better ones than Imoen and Nalia; also there are romance spice-up mod that let your pc initiate love talks. and yes, there are some compatibility issues among various mods. moreover, there's order of installations: some mods are better installed before other ones. anyway, you need to do some research to get desired mods and vanilla BG2 to work perfectly together, but it's worthy of the effort I think.

Jade Empire has a good twist to the final resolution of romance and the game itself is decent.

however, as I said, nothing comes even close to BG2; if you set your standard by BG2, you're not going to get anything close to be as fun, engaging, and deep as BG2.

Since multiplatform and consolization, Bioware's games tend to be shorter in game length and smaller in scale. The Wticher is reasonably big and lengthy game, but its "romances" or "affairs" are nothing like the dnd romance sidequest of BG2. a very nice CRPG to try, but just don't expect to get a BG2 type romance experience out of it.

Alright, let me sing you the praises of Dragon Age for a few minutes. Both Dragon Age 1 & 2 have great romances and graphics. As well as a large fan base providing fun mods & etc. Dragon Age: Origins (First Game) has an amazing plot with beautiful graphics, cutscenes, and romances. I prefer this one much more than the 2nd game. You can romance one (or two, actually) person out of 4 choices - 2 straight, 2 bi on each gender. It's simply a beautiful game with exclusive romances and amazing story plot. I couldn't recommend it enough. Dragon Age: Awakening (Expansion to Origins) is another campaign, a sequel to Origins. Sadly, you cannot romance anyone in this expansion - it is also noticably shorter than Origins and less plot-friendly. Dragon Age 2 (Second Game!) is very nice in itself, but in my opinion, doesn't compare to Origin's romances. The romances in DA2 are.. infuriating is a good word. I should like them more, but (tiny spoiler--------) just about all the romance options kick you in the balls at some point. Oh, drama. It just got on my nerves. The plot to DA2 also didn't seem quite as epic. The graphics are slightly improved, with great cutscenes and pew pew attacks, but I was overall disappointed with DA2. Hope this helped! Try Origins!

Yeah no disagree there.. BG2 had several romances that had the characters randomly talk to you.. And depending how you answered them, they liked you or hated you.. And in the end they slept with you... I seriously think your blinded by nostaliagia over anything else.. Their stories were alright I suppose, but I would hardly consider them very engaging.. Then again I can't think of any game with a good romance story..

I found the 'romance' in both Witcher games to be poorly concieved, crass, vulgar and more than a little perverted at the best of times. You won't find any heartfelt romance in those games.

Most of the RPGs I've played have already been mentioned but you might want to try ToR if you can stay on it long enough and also there are plenty of games that while not being RPGs have great romance in them. Max Payne 2 for example.
