That specs page only makes mention of PCI slots for expansion, so this card should get the job done: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814129069

It's tough to find a good card that will plug into a PCI slot; if you have an AGP port then your options expand a bit more. If not, that's probably the best you can do.

It doesn't even mention if it has an AGP slot or a PCI-E slot, can you check what is has first?

Under the expansion section of that page it says there are two PCI ports. The card I reccomended was under the assumption that those are the only ports in there at all; I wouldn't expect much more from a Sony PC.

7950GT or X1950Pro (or X1950XT if you can scrape together another $10 or $20 CAD)

DGFreak : Me neither, but you can always try... To Cry__havoc: search for a picture with AGP slot and PCI-E slot, you'll see how the bus should look like. If you can only find white colored bars in there, stacked with equal space between each other and at the same position vertically, then those are PCI slots. Not worth upgrading your GPU when that is all you got. Let us know what you find.

Only if your new board is the same socket type as your old CPU.

You usually can't change the motherboards in pre-fab PC's as they do not use standard sizes; you wouldn't be able to screw it in to anything.

An AGP slot is off set from your regular PCI slots but a half inch or so.  PCI-E will only be off set from your regular PCI slots by a few millimeters.

Those are PCI slots.

EDIT: I posted too quickly; is that black slot bigger or smaller than the white ones? If it's bigger then it is probably an AGP slot; if it is a lot smaller, then it's for more RAM.

If the port looks like this: then it is an AGP port. Assuming you do have an AGP port, you want this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143046

NVM how I got the information. Just get a good videocard now. Something like a 8800 or 8600... somebody will give you a link. I've done enough, it's 2:10 AM here, I'm off to bed. Good luck on the Viao man! See you later!

Dirk confirmed you DO have PCI-E.  So if you only have $250CAD get a7950GT or X1950Pro (or X1950XT if you can scrape together another $10 or $20 CAD)
