im currently running 2 geforce 6800xt video cards in SLI mode using a 500 watt PSU. im upgrading my cards to 2 geforce 7900gs video cards in SLI. do i need to upgrade my PSU to handle the new cards? my PSU isnt SLI approved that i know of. any comments or suggestions?

I think the 7XXX have a similar power requirements to the 6XXX. If your computer freezes a lot under full load then its probably lack of power.
Here is the power supply that I am looking at for my next computer.

I hear its a good PSU but do check to see if its compatible with your computer...

I've got a 450W PSU and I'm running with a AMD 64 x2 3800+ with dual 7600GTs and I don't have any issues. You'll should not see any problems while using 500W.

If it's a good quality PSU then it shouldn't be a huge issue unless you are running a lot of other stuff like multiple drives, external drives, sound cards, heaps of fans, lights, PCI cards, lots of memory etc.
