So I recently have put my PC together and everything works fine. Except for one little problem which is kinda weird. Every time I cut off the power supply to the computer from the main and start it again, it goes until the windows 8 loading logo screen appears and the circling 'dots' get stuck a few seconds before the PC shuts down automatically. Then I have to start the PC again and it works fine. I get this "Send Error Report'' message when the window starts up and then everything works great.

I've checked the wires, they're in their places. The PSU is fine, what could possibly be wrong that I have to start it two times before it finally starts up?

Thanks in advance.

If it is overclocked, run it at default settings and see what happens.

@insane_metalist: @klunt_bumskrint: No, I'm running the default settings. I mean who the hell would overclock at 768p? (I know I need to get a new monitor :P)

This may be stretching it a bit but how old is your motherboard's battery? If it has run its course then you may get all sorts of weird errors.

If you're unplugging it from the mains it will need to do a cold boot.

During cold boots the components go through training to acquire the correct voltages and speeds (typically why cold boots take longer). Try some stability tests when you get into windows, try prime 95 or Rog Realbench and see if it shuts down.

Also list the specs and when you built it.

@top_lel:

It could be a bad Ram stick. Leave one stick in go to change advance power settings and turn off hybrid sleep. Put your computer into sleep mode a few times and see if you get a BSOD. Then move onto the next stick.

I have only one stick in it for now that I bought not longer than 5 days ago so I doubt that'd be the case.

I'll try those stability tests tonight when I'm free.

I just built it on Thursday.

Specs:

AMD FX-8350 4.0ghz

MSI AMD R9 280X

ASUS M5A78L-M/USB 3

Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz

Thermaltake smart series 630W

and an old hdd that I'm planning on changing real soon.

@klunt_bumskrint: I got the time and did the 15 minute stress test using RealBench v2.2. It passed and didn't shut down.

Try turning off fast startup in the power options.
