I bought a new monitor--the Dell U2515H that has a maximum resolution of 1440P. The problem is that my video card, the Geforce 260 GTX, will only output 1080P through DVI.The Dell only accept HDMI and DisplayPort. I bought a DVI-to-HDMI, and when I set the resolution to 1440P, the screen goes black and cycles through until settling on 1080P.

I know I can buy a new graphics card for about 50 bucks, but is there a cable that will allow me to link my current card to my new monitor at 1440P?

DVI to hdmi adapters are only single link. (Max resolution of 1920x1080 at 60hz.)

You need a new graphics card since it doesn't have a displayport out.

There are a lot of cable adapters, but I don't know if there's a cable adapter that will let you go from Dual link DVI to Displayport. DVI/Displayport Dual Link adapters usually go the other way and they tend to run into the $100 price range (unlike most of these adapters which are like 20-30 bucks). For that money, get a new video card. Besides, you're going to have a very hard time driving many games anywhere near your native resolution with such an old card anyway.

They do make them but the ones I have seen are around $200-300.
