is there any way i can turn down the fan on my video card??

without overheating the video card?

my video card is loud and it bothers me a lot when i sleep.

i have a Geforce 7600 GT gfx card

It's in the low-level system settings under Fan settings I think, don't have it installed anymore. Allows you to set it to lower percentage levels for 2d desktop and then when you fire up a 3d app it'll accelerate to another desired speed percentage.

k i got it but now how do i set my vid card into 2D mode?

Its in 2d mode on the desktop. It only goes into performance 3d mode when running a game or another 3d app.

Goto Main =>, where it says "Driver settings" click to the right of "ForceWare detected Customize..." Select the one on the left (system settings) Goto Fan. You an probably set 2d to 25%, I have 3d performance at 100%.
