Is Rage worth the effort?

I just want to shoot shit and for about the last 2 hours i'v been running around talking to the worlds most boring NPC's, with no story. Going from A to B delivering... something. 2 tiny little dungeon levels so far, took about 10 minutes to get through.

Do you actually get some focus on FPS later on or is most of the game like this?

Nope,it's like that all the time.

Well Rage is all about dumb shooting, some side storyline - I don't know why you're having difficulties to find some enemies.

You could always play Borderlands or Serious Sam

From what i have played. let me summarize it. its not a bad game. just average at best.

it has one of the best shooting and AI around. but level design was horrendous. it was Heavily console focus. it has too much of potential but it was wasted. as a result game was promise as next big thing in open world FPS but turn out increadibly linear game. game is easy and casual and hack. you cant even Die in a game. once you die you solve a stupid puzzle and retrieve where u died. plus driving mechanics was not much interesting.

I played it 3 months back and I can't say I enjoyed it all that much, not sure I even enjoyed the shooting mechanics too much either; enemies became bullet sponges and certain guns felt either too weak or too strong both in terms of feel and damage. The story's bare bones, the characters aren't engaging, the quests are all very MMOish and the levels are too linear and too predictable in terms of where you'll get waves of enemies.

I did enjoy certain parts of the game though. There's a big "Oh shit" moment in the middle where you see a giant appear, but then the game ends with you fighting waves of standard enemies on a tiny map. The driving's quite fun and you get a good sense of how big the wasteland is, and overall it is a pretty good looking game despite the most amount of texture popping I've ever seen. I wouldn't replay it, you get a good sense that it's a game stuck in mid 2005 in terms of ideas and that it's suffered a long development process and unnecessary restrictions to cater it to consoles.

no you cant. you cant die in a game. plus game is incredibly easy even on nightmare difficulty.

Yes you can die,you don't have unlimited electro-shocks.

Have you even played the game Sniper-chan?

even with that you still cant die. game is as easy as Assassins creed.

i have completed the game once and only die very few times.

Contradictions much

I watched a review of a fellow on youtube saying "oh the shooting mechanics are great it's as good as or surpasses fear".

But playing it, heads don't blow up and it has no slow-mo. It also lacks the over reaction to being shot.

Nowhere near or even close to fear.

I just wish it doesnot had iron sights, regen health, bad level design otherwise it would be one hell of the game. but now finally ID learn the lesson they cancelled Rage 2 and scrap early build of Doom 4 that was call of doom and now they are focusing on Real Doom 4 on ID tech 6.

Rage is just test for ID that can they make console game? No

so they fail at it and now they are going back to roots. Doom 3 got so much backlash but it was 10 times better than Rage was.

One of the worst FPS I've ever had the pleasure of playing. They game tried to be so much, but failed on all counts.

Yeah Rage is boring. If you want to just shoot stuff play Borderlands.

The lack of interactive environment is shite and huge step backwardl. Doom 3, for all it's flaws,had a fully interactive environment. Probably console hitting 60fps along with the bullshity megary textuery crap. Who cares, it's rubbish.

Rage is bad for many reasons, some of which have been mentioned here. What is more insulting is that some quests take you back through the linear shooting areas in reverse direction as though it was trying to provide variety. id software's worst game by a large margin.
