in my opinion, a gaming laptop is too expensive for what you could get in a desktop 4x cheaper.

I dont think a good gaming laptop under 2K exists my friendR-Dot-Yung

You won't find a "great" gaming laptop under $2K but there definetly are many more then decent ones. Your best bet is to customize it yourself at a place like Dell or HP.com. Idealistically you'd want at least 1GB of ram (2 recommended), a 7600GS or GT at the least and a Core 2 Duo processor.

Thats complete lie.. There are numerous laptops out there I have seen for that much armed with a 7900 GTX, 1gb and a high end processor.

An HP dv8000 may be within that price category and it is a very good gaming laptop in my experience with it. The only thing I did was add the full 2 gigs of RAM.

I would go with either a Gateway or Toshiba or somthing.....I wouldnt buy a dell, but they are cheap gaming laptops....it all depends man....a better bet would be to browse around....just make sure to BUY FROM THE MANUFACTURER....third party people are usually a-holes

Look for Asus laptops on Newegg. They give some pretty good deals way under 2000 dollars

They have gaming laptops for under 2k.

It depends on what you need/want. I have a Sony Vaio SZ series 13.3", Core 2 Duo 1.83Ghz,1GB ram, NVIDIA Geforce 7400 128MB. It has two video cards in it, one for if you are not playing games to save battery life and one for gaming.
Intel/NVIDIA hybrid

The highend ones are over 2k, but you can get the lower models for $1700

HP makes some good models you can get by with under 2k. To be honest though, if you go on Ebay you can get a Dell XPS m1710 for just over $2k to about 2.5k and they totally rock. There are people on there with very good history and ratings and you can get them at a pretty good discount. I just got a XPS M1710 and it really is a gaming PC.  True you can get a desktop for much less but if you want portability they do rock.

If you really have to stay under 2k then check out HP's lineup and I think Toshiba has a pretty nice gaming laptop for around 2k.
