Loved what they did here...

The true irony is that the pirates will not realize that they are the very same as those in the game.
This is soo working in their favor. the game is getting mass marketing from this lol
I downloaded the demo is quite fun. considering buying it
Â
that 94% is out the window it's more like 99.8% now. I was considering downloading the torrent just to experience the fun everyone is talking aboutÂ
Has anyone actually played it? How are these "Tycoon" games? I've never tried one.FelipeInsidetycoon is just what devs use to resemble a somewhat real life style sim. There is demo for this game. it actually quite fun

That is pretty damn funny. Although, the end of the article mentions that the genuine game is DRM-free, anyway. Wonder how long it will be before "genuine" copies are floating around torrent sites.
So the dev got back at pirates by uploading their crappy game onto torrent sites? Considering the fact that the game hasn't appeared on any major DD platforms and hasn't been followed at all in the gaming press it would seem that they are using this as a marketing ploy to attract buyers.

Of course the other irony is that this game is almost a direct copy of Kairosofts mobile platform game Game Dev Story.

So they deserve this backlash? I think so. :D Too bad, other games like WarZ still manage to remain in top 40 sellers on Steam.....This was genius. I read it the other day off of TB's twitter. I could help but literally laugh out loud IRL.
Yeah I wonder why there aren't more of these "troll" DRMs.This "troll" DRM is simply the best type and the one that should be encouraged.
Legitimate customers get the best version of the game, while pirates are stuck with a broken copy. NOT the other way around.Â

Hopefully this news will lead to more sales for them. Hilarious what they did, There have been companies in the past that did similar things. An old RTS game let you play and build up for a little while, then after a specific time your entire base would explode.Rattlesnake_8
There was an old school RPG that let you play the entire game with no issues, but at the final boss, the game would freeze and erase your save file. I'm trying to find it, but I'm having no luck. :(
Hahahah, awesome. It's also awesomely hilarious that they "borrowed" this game and then complain when their work is stolen. This is just a big silly box of irony ready to be opened.
I played Game Dev Story a while back on my phone, pretty entertaining game but I don't think I'll be buying tycoon just for how similar  *cough* COPY *cough* it is to story.
0/10, go back to system wars. And this is why we have to beg for games.  Stop pirating guys.
Mr_BillGates
Actually that was possible if you didn't have punk-buster updated it happened to me with the STEAM Version.I think either in Arma, or operation flashpoint, Or a game like it.
Â
Turned your soldier into a bird after a while if you pirated the game.Â
Â
That was pretty funny.

That was Earthbound.Â
 That's a good one.
The piracy rate of 94% for that game is just sad though.
flipin_jackass
I think it's because the game doesn't have any official outlets like Steam or Origin supporting it, while they have no marketing or anything. So of course, torrent sites will be where lots of people hear about it and download it.

I would imagine you don't see more of them because other than being a good publicity stunt, the turn-around time for the pirate release groups catching and removing such DRM methods, especially when its revealed to the public, is too swift to really make it useful. I don't imagine that the pirates were 'stuck' with a broken copy, as Mozuckint alluded to, for very long.
Even though it might sound odd, or pretentious. There is actually artistic value on 'trolling' game mechanics like this. It may do a good job of provoking players to think about it the issue presented, especially if the core game revolves around managing a video game studio. So simple, so clever and so amusing. This "troll" DRM is simply the best type and the one that should be encouraged.

Have you played both games?
Okay so they share their own game out for pirating and then they get sad when people pirate it? seems legit.

Seriously. If anything, this was just a waste of time on the dev's behalf. Pros- play a dumb joke of pirates Cons - people think the game is broke, won't fool very many people for very long Yea, great one devs. Way to use your heads...[QUOTE="cablemodemx2"][QUOTE="Elann2008"] Yeah I wonder why there aren't more of these "troll" DRMs. KHAndAnime

I honestly don't see how that's a bad thing. I would like more games like game dev story with more depth.
Daniel Petric the game is not on steam just on the devs website that's why it's a 94% pirating. It's because no one knows the game exists. This is just a stunt to get green lite. There was only 300 copies of the game sold so were not talking tens of thousands of pirated copies.........94% piracy rate?
disgusting
JigglyWiggly_
Yeah i noticed that, that's actually the first thing that came to my mind when i saw the title even before i clicked this thread anyway the game looks interesting too bad it's not on iOS (would've preferred it on iOS/Android when it comes to games like this)Interesting comment on one of the posters on that page:
