Hi all, I have an overclocked AMD Phenom ii x4 955 which is running at 3.7ghz. I set the voltage manually at 1.38v (if I remember correctly). However, when it is under load, according to CPU-Z, the voltage seems to flucturate and will drop down to as low as 1.34v at times.

Is this normal? I have noticed some games have been crashing to desktop lately

Set it to 1.35

EDIT: woops sorry it comes stock at 1.35.

Try to OC it max at 1.45.

Make sure your PSU got plenty capacity as if you clock it to 4Ghz and 1.45V it takes 180Watts

2nd EDIT: "Up the multiplier to x18, keep the base clock at 200Mhz [do not overclock it unless shooting for 4Ghz or above] increase vcore to 1.45 and keep reducing it by a factor of 0.250V until you find the lowest vcore for a stable overclock make sure you have a good CPU cooler and a 80 Plus rated power supply and your Motherboard should support 140 Watt processors if you wanna overclock Phenom II's"

Its call Vdroop, vdroop of .03-04 is normal.

My Phenom 2 955 at 3.6ghz is a C3 stepping not sure what revision you have. But mine is at ether 1.35 or 1.36v. Take it down 1.37 and test it with prime 95, and if stable for 10-15 minutes lower it to 1.36 and test again. If its stable you found a good voltage and it will lower temps some too. Now if it becomes unstable after dropping the voltage put it back to 1.38 and test with prime. If you have a C2 phenom max voltage is 1.425 C3 is 1.4.
