I'm about to buy a new pc soon and the one I want comes preloaded with Windows Vista.

I want the pc mainly for gaming and I heard that most xp games dont work with Vista and that it will slow down performace during gameplay.

Is it possible to downgrade (or in this case, upgrade) to XP to get better performance from my future pc?

you would have to buy a copy of windows xp.  Or find a friend that has upgraded (down graded from you said) to vista and see if they would sell their old copy of xp

the big reason why games dont run as well on vista is just because of video card driver issues. just stick with vista and wait a month or two for better drivers. vista will be better for gaming in the long run.

You would need a copy of xp and then I would do a dual boot so you could have them both. Also many games work in Vista, the problems is that the video drivers arent up to xp speed yet.

Ok then, Ill stick with Vista and just cope with the issues until better drivers are released.
