Better ventilation or better GPU cooler?

Hey guys

Recently , i get high temps with my graphics card (GTX560TI) , it goes up around 80 in ACIV ! anyway , i was wondering to have a better ventilation by changing my case but i don't know how much it'd affect graphics card....

Modding a corsair H60 on GPU is my second option but it'd cost higher n is a little bit risky !

Which one should i go with ?

First suggestion since this is been happening recently. Have you cleaned it for dust? If not then I highly recommend doing so.
Do you know which case you got? If it has a intake fan or two plus one exhaust, that is probably good enough. I suggest buying a third party cooling option for the card rather than modding a H60 to fit. Remember it is more than just the core that needs cooling.

Like horgen said, you need an intake and an exaust fan, preferably 12cm. If it's still not good enough then I'd suggest an Arctic Cooling VGA cooler. I used to own a L2 Pro and it's exelent. For your GPU, however, you need eather a Twin Turbo II or Accelero Mono Plus. Trust me, they're worth it.

80c is not a problem, Nvidia says themselves that its max temperature is 99c here http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-560ti/specifications. I'd say just dust off your GPU and the interior of your case if it bothers you, but thats something you should do at least once a year anyway.

Yeah it's dust-free , my guess is that with next gen games temps go crazy u know just in this game i get 80 ! for instance in FIFA 14 it's 60 , in NFSR 70 , in BF3 75 ... it'll be 85 i think in The Witcher 3 :D!

My case is just so lame ! Green MD121 , with one fan !

RevanBITW , Yeah but it gets crashed when it reaches 85 ! and if u want to prolong the life of card u need to keep it cool ...

I htink Accelero Extreme is a bit of an overkill for your GPU, plus it probably wouldn't even fit in that case. Speaking of cases, Fractal Design Core 3000 has great value, Cooler Master 690 II or any HAF case would be a good option in the upper segment, on the cheap side Elite 334, the version with bottom placed PSU, or Xigmatek Asgard, it's what I can think of ATM. I'm not a fan of Thermaltake, but they also have a lot of models you could check out. Hope this helps.

Better fan with cable management:

I recommend Corsair 200/300/400/500 R series or 230T

Sharkoon REX3/8 series or T5/9 Value series

Antec GX700/900 series.

80C is fine. Though kinda hot for a 560 Ti.

Better case cooling will go a long way in lowering temps

Look for a case that has mesh front and at least supports three 120mm fan spots. What country are you from TC?

Whats your expectation of the graphics card temps after getting a better case ? i mean can it lower to 70 for example ?

my GTX 560 (non-Ti) goes to about 70C under load. i think it's pretty normal with stock cooler, and pretty normal for a modern GPU anyway.

i'm using BitFenix Prodigy mini-ITX case with only the one stock 12cm exhaust fan connected. my mini-itx mobo doesn't have another pin to connect the front intake fan... lol

You could still connect a fan to a molex (if you ever need to). You can get it to work at 12V or 7V, depending on how you connect the wires.

yeah, it's just that i like when the mobo controls the speeds automatically. telling from the temps, it seems that i'm fine with only the exhaust fan.

80c is fine on load

It is but i wanna keep this card for like 2 years till i get a shot at PS4 u know i'm a little bit worried that it may not survive...

My GTX275 ran at over 80 at load for 5 years and still works fine.

wow! dunno i've heard that 80 is dangerous for GTX560TI.....

Most people would rather keep their temps under that. I don't blame them. Max temp for most gpu's is like 100c though.
Is your card at stock settings? If so, I'd say that is pretty hot and if you'd ever wanted to OC your card, you wouldn't have that option with those kind of temps at stock.

I've down clocked it to 822MHZ and there was around 8 degrees difference u know i didn't have any problem till BF4 and ACIV , it became so unstable then i decided to down clock it ....think if i get a new case it would drop for like 5 degrees ...

Nice card. The manufacture OC is usually just a slight one. Most times 50 or so mhz, or that's what I've noticed. Both of my 7870's, which are OC editions have a 50mhz OC on them.

Have you had the card for awhile? Just ask in case it might need of cleaning. That can lower the temps some.
A new case can help. What is your current case I may ask?

80c is normal on load, it won't hurt the lifespan. The new amd cards are even rated to run at 95c on load, and they do.

In the september of 2011 i've bought it and have cleaned it almost 2 month ago but it's clean ...

My apologies, I saw that last night. It was pretty late/early when I replied and I was sleepy. :P A new case would definitely help. My case can take 6 fans. Though I don't need that many as it already does the job pretty well. But having more air flow can definitely help. The cooler on your card should be good.

In the instance of better ventilation vs cooler, i would almost always pick a cooler. Why? Because a better cooler will keep temps down within that ventilation and make you not have to have as good of ventilation. It is a balancing act, but a cooler would help more.

Honestly I think there is a lot of horrible advice being thrown around here.. IN a air cooled system, ambient temperature is key.. You can have the best air cooled fan and heatsink on your video card and it won't do jack sh!t if the temperature inside the case is extremely high due to heat build up.. Afterall the intake fan is SUCKING in that hot air in the case in it's attempt to cool your video card.. Your going to see the biggest leap in thermal performance when you get a far better case with proper ventilation.. The case your currently using is meant for office computers not to house gaming hardware to be used for intense processes..

Take it easy man , u've got a hell of case there ! u have no idea how hard it is to find these kinda cases here , anyway i've found a case with below specifications n i'd like to know your opinions....

@mjorh : I wish the case I have wasn't so hard to find. It's actually fairly cheap here and I love it. Wish you could get it as easy as I can and cheap to.
That case looks really solid. Hope it doesn't cost you too much to get it. I'm sure you'll notice a few changes once you get it and test it out.

How can it affect the overall performance ?

Wont affect anything, the majority of the case is steel. Its just personal opinion how something "looks". If you like it and it does its job its fine.

It wont affect, but you want your money's worth, the case looks like something from Ebay China made that costs 20$

He is from Iran so his options are most likely limited. I bet also that cases from antec,CM, corsair etc are much higher priced. But also again "looks" is subjective the build quality may be on par with other good cases. From what Ive seen of the case its good.

As @04dcarraher said , my options are so limited and that's why i get to choose this Green X5 case....
