just wondering what kind of performance you guys get. i have a gtx 780 with a core i7 and 16gb memory

I get a min of around 45 and highs of 60. an average of around 55 i'd say

I'm on ultra settings at 1920x1080

EDIT: oh and i'm on windows 7, apparently this is the rare game which performs much better with windows 8, apparently gtx 780 owners with win 8 get closer to consistent 60fps

That seems low. I played the first part of the Singapore level up until the point where you leave the beach area. I got as high as 88 while on the water and lowest was maybe 51 on Ultra at 1920 x 1080. I'm using a overclocked 770 and 3570K overclocked to 4.2 with 8GBs of RAM. Maybe try the same scenario and see if you get similar or better results. Perhaps it was just the particular level you were on.

I get better performance with a 680 and i5 (Win7), so something is definitely wrong.

I get extremely high FPS with 2-Way SLI GTX 780 Ti and Crossfire R9 290s. When I get a chance, I'll run one GTX 780 Ti and tell you about FPS (I know, it's not a 780 but close enough).
Also, what CPU are you running and is it overclocked?

4770K @4,2GHz, 16GB RAM, Win7 SP1 64bit, NVIDIA: 337.88 WHQL, max settings and 4xAA:

He got 79FPS average.

There is clearly something wrong...
