first column is "name of chip"
second column is "die/memory speed"
third column is "memory type"
fourth column is "memory interface"(not sure)
fifth column is "memory size"
sixth column is "pipeline" (not sure about this)
seventh column is " manufacturing process"
eighth column is "cost (in US dollars)"

Well I meant the entire chart...

too bad they're pushed to be released in the second quarter, earliest we'll see them is about april, and that's optimistically speaking. Nvidia is given such a huge lead in the dx10 market, and it's hard for DAAMIT (ATI+AMD) to pick up as i'm sure Nvidia is just waiting so they can release their counters to the r6xx series. But i still hold high hopes for DAAMIT nonetheless, it would be near insane to release an inferior product to the 8800's, and I expect their cards to blow it sky high, but its not to say Nvidia will just be sitting there doing nothing, oh god i love competition.
#9 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
lol I love the DAAMIT thing, who made it up?
#10 Posted by jfelisario (2753 posts) -
First time i saw it was from theinquirer.net. Dunno, but many sites are calling ATI that now, lol.
#11 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
Man, I would love to see this: "Today, AMD is releaseing their ATi line of video cards, and ATi plans to release their Radeon r600 cards today also..."

$4-5 million is not a large lead at all, especially taking into account how much it cost to make the 10k G80s.

Expect the R600 to easily compete with whatever Nvidia throws at it, wheter it be a G81 or G90.
#13 Posted by jfelisario (2753 posts) -
true, we'll just have to wait and see if the r600 will live up to our expectations.
#14 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
the R600 HAS to beat the 8800GTX and at least be at or close to the level of the G81, otherwise daamit is done. Of course, seeing as how the g81 will begin to use GDDR4 memory, I still doubt it will reach the insane speeds of the r600XTX. 2.2GHz anyone? Faster than some processors...

The 2900XTX will beat the 8800GTX.
#16 Posted by jfelisario (2753 posts) -
no doubt, i just hope it will blow it out of the water though, not just a marginal improvement, but by taking it by the leaked tech specs it should.

So if my budget is around $180 then what card would that be? and what is the will be the nvidia equivelent for that?

:| DDR is double pumped and that just the memory speed, not of the actual GPU. This list looks fake as DAAMIT has confirmed that there will be an X2900XTX at the high end, not an X2800XTX.

Probably the 8600GT or 8900GS... same as it was for 7600GT and 7900GS: Kings of the Mid-range market...

but what ati card is around $180 cus arent the ones on the list in yen

#22 Posted by jfelisario (2753 posts) -
the specs should be right, but they were just unsure of the naming conventions and took it that they would follow through like the previous generation, but with the official 411 from DAAMIT, just take it that the x2800xtx is the x2900xtx :)

Yeah most likely a 8600Ultra or GT.
#24 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
Only if the Ultra isn't just a mean rumor. And i thought the list was in US dollars...

yeah, looking at it now that's to low to be in yen

Is that X2800XTX2 similar in idea to the 7950GX2 - two GPUs on one card ?

I assume, ATI is releasing a X2800XTX2?
#29 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
I heard that somewhere...Well it's a good time as ever to release a 2 in 1 Card, at least it wont be over as quickly as the 7950GX2...

Just have a look at the top-most card in that chart.

Looks like it, i just wished that the two companies could make quad-sli, quad-fire viable, as in its current condition it's quite pitiful, as i would really imagine a pc loaded with what is physically 4 gpu's to make something significant out of that. We'll just have to wait for that x2900xtx2 and 8950gx2 if they turn out to be something powerful or just another moneysink.
#32 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
the 7950GX2 looked so ugly...
#33 Posted by jfelisario (2753 posts) -
hehe imagine if the 8950gx2 turned out to be a four-slotter, lol. that would be so hilarious.

i had trouble following that... why was teh quad thing pitiful?
#35 Posted by jfelisario (2753 posts) -
there are many cases where "normal" sli set-ups have surpassed the quad-sli, for example a pair of 7900 GT sli'ed can be faster than a quad, even if the gx2 are technically made out of two 7900 GT's stuck together. i guess what i'm trying to say its not practical and worth it for what it would cost people.

I agree, it did look terrible.

Exactly. That's why Nvidia and ATI are hesitant to release quad-sli. Anyway, the driver support for current quad-sli is also poor.

hehehe, what ever happened to that class action lawsuit against nvidia for failing to deliver the whql drivers?

Don't know. Are you talking about the Vista drivers ? Because I think Nvidia have just released WHQL Vista drivers.
