ArmA 2 Gamespot Steam Group!

Hey all. Seeing that a lot of people here seem to play ArmA 2 and ArmA 2 OA, I have decided to make a Steam group for all of us to get together and play. ArmA is best played with friends on large co-op maps!

So here's the link. Join up if you own ArmA 2 and want to do some gaming.

I'm currently the leader, if somebody wants to be an officer shoot me a PM. I could use the help.

A few things should happen.

First off, I need 4 officers for a Gamespot Union.

Second we are going to standardize a modpack for everybody so it's easy to join games without having inconsistencies.

Third, anybody should feel free to invite anybody else in the group/union to a game night from time to time.

It's all about community. A place for all of us to play together. Co-op is ArmA 2's strongest aspect.

ACE is pretty fantastic :D. Hope we do roll with it.

I'd prefer to go with vanilla. I play on other servers and they all require different mod packs. It gets to be a hassle to have to install and uninstall all this stuff just to play.

should i have both ArmA 2 and OA installed just incase?lawlessx

Its a rule I go by.. always keep ARMA2 and Operation Arrowhead on the harddrive as Combined Operations 8)

Ok hear me out. You should figure out what day on the weekend PCGamer does their events and do the opposite. Double Arma 2 action for people in both groups.

I assume ACE improves the performance? Because I have enough troubles running this game at reasonable settings as it is.

I have BAF and think it's great. I was going to get PMC but almost all of the reviews said it was a stinker.

ArmA 2 has horrible performance and ACE won't improve that. However if you buy ArmA 2 OA and run combined ops, the changes they made to the engine with OA really do improve performance.

Joined! And regarding mods.. you can use a launcher so you can switch off mods and switch them on when ever you like this makes it MUCH easier for people who have the game on Steam. I use Spirited Machine myself. :)

Edit: All DLCs and OA aswell the only issue i really have is timezones as most of you are mostly from NA. :(

Thats good to hear, i don't like how Arma II runs

They REALLY improved things with Arrowhead ALOT. From a performance standpoint its like day and night. I still loved ARMA2, but when Arrowhead came out I was pretty impressed with how they got that game to run but also how you can use those improvements on arma2 when you run them together.

gamespot has lots of arma 2 players i see :)

I'll join up, I need to clean up my arma mod files...soo much mods running. If I can recall...its ACE, SLX, GroupLink4,Chammy sound mod, JDT fire and smoke...and the list goes on :lol:

I have the retail version of ARMA2 and the steam version of OA and it works fine. If Combined Operations shows up on your OA launcher the game library then you have done it right and its ready to go. Just start the game as combined ops when you go to play.

I just followed instructions on that forum and it worked for me. Its just combining your two arma2 games together basically, once you get it set up just right click on arrowhead and press COMBINED OPS.

I just followed instructions on that forum and it worked for me. Its just combining your two arma2 games together basically, once you get it set up just right click on arrowhead and press COMBINED OPS.

Does ACE make any changes to the main menu layout or anything? i just need to make sure i have installed the mods properly because i haven't noticed any differences yet.
