AMD is planning to put out one of there high range GPU-R9 380x in Spring.

This card may not be the direct competitor for the next NVIDIA titan as that will be the 390x. However, everyone is still debating on that.

What we know is that, this card will be a direct competitor for gtx 980. The card will also not be utilizing GDDR5 and will be the first to implement HBM.

If the rumored performance is true, these specs will significantly faster than the gtx 980 at a similar price point. However, the watt usage will be higher than the maxwell cards and be similar to the Nvidia kepler levels.

Performance will be 50% higher than the r9 290x

Also on a side note, the R9 370x mid range lines will also be coming out soon as well.

We should have the "Titan X" next month and maybe a 980ti after that. Going to be interesting.

About time, the constant refreshes and rebrands of the 200 series was getting old.

Its not really new, AMD is just the first to market it on a gpu. The memory can move massive amounts of data quicker then GDDR5, each module can move like 128gb/s (1st gen) vs gddr5 at 28gb/s.

So a two stack module can supply 64gb/s 4 stack can supply 128gb/s, 1st gen I think the most you can tie in is 4x4 so the bandwidth for AMD's 300 series should be like 512gb/s. future 2nd gen HBM should do 1tb/s, but with stacks supporting 16gb or more memory.

I am happy with my 2 970s.

I will wait for 2016 or later to upgrade.

By then there will be 16nm GPUs.
