Hi, just trying to get some opinions from fellow PC Gamers that own either a wired or wireless 360 controller for PC Gaming. Is there a major difference between the two in terms of compatibility with games/reliability. I am leaning towards the wireless one (don't mind it eating up batteries),

thnx!

I think the wireless one also requires you get the adapter for the PC, so you're wasting more money. I'd just get wired, it's not like people put their PC far away and play on the couch...

i only have the wired, but it's really smooth. no delay, no hiccups and requires no charging whatsoever. the wireless is probably very similar, but then you have to put up with buying batteries or the charge pack, plus you have to buy a wireless receiver for it on your pc. that will end up costing you 70-80 as opossed to a cheaper $30-35 wireless controller that requires no extra peripheral, just plug in and play.

Either or is fine.

I have a Wireless, I've had no problems with it at all never had it drop connection or anything with the Wireless controller you'll have to buy the receiver but that's only around $15. Since I never use my 360 anymore I just bought a receiver which is a better choice for me than buying a $30 wired controller, ever thing was easy to setup I just plug the receiver into the back of my PC and windows automatically installs the driver and everything is ready to go.

If you have already have a wireless controller, it's cheaper to buy just the adaptor. If you don't have anything, buy a wireless controller.

I use the wireless version and have no problems with it. I just use energizer rechargeable batteries.

Wired. There are some games that for some strange reason will not work right with the wireless version.

Wired. Here are my reasons:

- No Batteries required
- Long cable, just fine for PC gaming
- No silly adapter to bother with, just plug into the USB slot

Wireless is great for console gaming sitting on coaches that are far from the TV, but the concept seems fairly pointless to me for PC gaming.

I like wireless.

I set it on my desk and don't have to worry about more wires knocking over my coffee into my computer. I am literally swinging my 360 controller around in front of my desk and I love the freedom of being able to do that.

I also have my PC hooked up to my plasma so I'll take my wireless onto the sofa and play games from there.

You can always buy rechargeable batteries from walmart that work just fine.

Also I have never run into any compatibility problems.

Thanks for all the responses! As I have stated, I do not mind purchasing batteries. I also plan to have my PC hooked up to my LCD television, so I can enjoy some PC Games on the big screen. However, the sight of wires stretching across a room does not sit well with me.

My main concern was the compatibility differences for PC Games between the wired/wireless controller. Some people have mentioned the wireless controller has some issues, so I will have to look into the specific games I want to play to see if there are indeed any issues with the wireless version.

No issues over here with wireless controller. Don't buy batters. That's terribly expensive when you add up the cost, over and over again. Just buy a 3rd party play and charge kit that lets you charge through any USB port, if the official Microsoft play and charge kit doesn't work with the PC. Honestly, I never tried charging the Microsoft play and charge kit through the PC usb. So I don't know.. maybe someone can shine some light here. But I don't waste money on batteries. At least get rechargeable batteries...

1. Buy 360 WIRED controller...

2. Plug it into your computer via USB

3. Enjoy your gaming

I personally prefer wireless because I have too many damn wires as it is attached to the computer and I've got the comfort to sit on my bed, which happens to be right next to my pc but I would say get the wired one because :

1) You don't need to use batteries

2) Certain gamesl ike Assassin's Creed II have problems reading the wireless controller.

3) And the obvious reason, it's cheaper.

Assassin's creed and other Ubisoft games are the only ones I'm aware of. From what I understand, after doing a little reading last night, it looks like there are player created fixes for Ubisofts mistakes

I'd go for the wired too in mind due to the fact that is...

Lighter

No batteries, your either going to plugin or swapping batteries all day.

No pack in the middle to get in the way, even with small knuckles like mines I can still feel the slight discomfort.
