Asus PG279Q 2560x1440 27" IPS 144hz

Or

Acer X34 3400x1440 34" IPS 75hz

Right now I have the Asus VG248QE. Great monitor have been using it for years, but the color isn't that great and in dark areas with the glare from the sunlight outside it makes it really hard to see since it's a TN panel. I have a gtx 980 will be putting in another 980 before I get the new monitor. So which do you all think is the better monitor? I don't know the response time or input lag of these monitors though.

Well considering neither monitor is out, it's pretty hard to tell right now, isn't it? Barring any unforeseen major issues with either monitor- it just comes down to if you want a faster monitor for gaming or if you want a monitor that is really wide.

@KHAndAnime: yeah I know they arnt out just yet. Just wanting to get people's opinions. I've never used an Acer monitor, but heard they are more gaming focused on building their monitors now.

Their monitors are often more gamer oriented - but Acer really doesn't have the best build quality or QA. And that particular monitor you're looking at, which would be fine for gaming, probably wouldn't be as good for gaming as the 144Hz, but that only matters if you can hit 144 FPS in the first place.

Yeah. They are both g-sync monitors so even if you get slower fps gameplay is supposed to feel smoother. Idc to get around 60-75hz for rpg games. Shooters I like to get around 120hz plus, but il still have my old monitor if I can't get high enough frame rates on certain games. I'm leaning more towards the Asus since I've had 2 Asus monitors and liked both of them.

I know its not one of the two listed but it meets a similar criteria as the first monitor. Maybe consider the recently released Acer Predator XB270HU?

@JigglyWiggly_: what's different from that monitor compared to the Asus one I listed above? I seen it has amd free sync, but I have an nvidia gpu. I can't use free sync with an nvidia gpu can I?

No you can't but why do you plan to run games at ~45fps?

Gsync is useless

The mg279q should be around $100-200 cheaper
