Recently made a little bit of money and thought about upgrading to something extremely beastly and future proof. (Currently using a gtx 580)

I was originally going to purchase a 970 at launch but held back, plus not getting the full 4gb video ram debacle kind of killed my enthusiasm for it.

There is 4GB of RAM on a GTX 970.

As for you wanting to upgrade - we can't answer that for you. Weigh the pros and cons of your current card to a GTX 980Ti and see if it's worthwhile for you to upgrade.

I would grab one... Your going to need to wait about a year before you see any new high end GPU's, if you wait.

New Batman game uses about 5 GB of VRAM at 1080 res.

Yeah see that's what I was afraid of. It's not like I even plan to go above 1080 res currently either.

I really wanted to wait til the proper UE 4 games got here and were benched, but that's a ways off.

@ReadingRainbow4: Yep, it sucks to wait and wait and wait. I sent back my 970 and am selling the other. I got my 980 Ti coming Friday.

980 Ti should at least hold it's value pretty well too. If you were to sell and buy another card next year.

Just going from a 580 to a 980 Ti will be massive. That's a 3 gen upgrade (70%+ increase in FPS).

Just put in my GTX 980 Ti... 1430 MHz right out of the box and RAM already OC'ed to 7220 MHz as well.

Looks to be a keeper!

@KHAndAnime: :)

I ran Batman really fast... 1080 res, with maxed settings.

GTX 970 with dedicated 970 as PhysX

GTX 980 TI

Funny thing is I see ZERO stutter now... No delay when Bat mobile comes into view or anything.

Problem is the game, with its memory leaks and other issues along with its multiple gpu support which is a mess, and then running a separate gpu with dedicated physx still has the same problem feeding two gpus with data. The game's performance is in the same ballpark with any intel cpu from i3 to i7 six core ~5 fps... which means that the game heavily relies on single core feeding gpu data.

@04dcarraher:

You should be more specific, the game ran at 5fps for most of us with a good enough rig, dont worry about the 5fps difference if its playable lol, be glad its playable.

Depends on which resolution do you game at and continue to game at. If you are gaming at 1080P and don't want to spend the extra money than the 980 maybe a good choice IMO. But if you game at 1440P and with "future proofing" than the 980 Ti is definitely a good choice.
