Michael is a beautiful name. :|Teenaged
I don't like it, it's way, way, waaaaaay too common. Although, I do love irony and from my understanding, it means "who is like God," which is so not true. Aside from that, I like that I was named after my uncle.

Actually I thought that Michael etymology had something to do with someone who is not faithful. :? I'll look it up and tell you if you like.George is way too common in Greece too. George (Γιωργος ) means farmer or he who cultivates the earth.

It honestly gets pretty annoying when you have to say "which one?" every time someone calls out your name. :P

Well, it changes depending on the spelling. I just did some reasearch and this is what I got for the Hebrew spelling of it:
Extended form of Micha, meaning "Who is like God?".
Michael is the name of several characters in the Old Testament. It is most famously that of one of the archangels, the one closest to God, who has the responsibility of carrying out God's judgements. Michael is regarded as the leader of the heavenly host and is the patron saint of soldiers.

You're right. Wikipedia agrees. But you see there is a greek word "michalida" (μιχαληδα ) which means "the woman who isn't faithfull. Probably nothing to do with it. :P But I'm certain about my name *checks* yeah I'm sure. Wikipedia agrees with me on this one. :PTeenaged
Woot. Irony confirmed! And I wouldn't expect George to mean that. I love odd name meanings. :P
