Or one which allows you to wear whatever you want?

I know, most american schools have no designated uniform, however in most places of the world: its not that way.

so which one would you rather? as for me I rather to assist one with designated uniform...I dont have a lot of clothes, and the ones I have dont fit me well/are not that cool so i'd wear all of my clothes real fast and chances are I would have to use the same pant/shirt twice a week.

so uniform for me.

I would like to wear what ever I want. Limititations are good. Don't want the kids to dress inapprioately. As along as a skirt isn't to short or jeans aren't sagging I'm fine.

While the students may not like them, Uniforms have often been show to improve school work environment. It's school, we should do everything we can to improve the education system.

Uniforms.

Giving teenagers that much freedom is a bad idea. This is a place of learning, not a hangout.

Having never been to a school that required uniforms (and I turned out alright), I think they're a bit ridiculous.

I honestly don't see how uniforms can improve school work environment. I think it's just another way that we are forced to conform... and I'd rather die at a very young age than to conform.

because it helps identifying with the enviroment...its kind of a symbol, just like people feel happier when they have a nice looking national flag, they tend to love the country more, but if the flag would be showing a big turf and some kids getting killed im pretty sure no one would like the country.

They are standard in Australia and you can be very sure that it does not crush individualism - unless clothing is your only form of expression.

Red and Gold uniforms, or least thats how my High school uniform would have looked like if our school had uniforms.

So yes, schools should have uniforms.

Actually it is"literally" relevant... If the students don't like uniforms then they will complain to parents who will complain to the school who will eventually change the rules.

I don't care either way. I know everyone in my area would be pissed beyond belief is they had to wear uniforms, though.

Uniforms would at least give me an excuse to wear a skirt.

uniforms= no. i would never send my kids to one. Now i think every school should have uniform set in for the kids who want look stupid where jeans around there knees, t shirts twice has big, ect ect

for you saying you don't have many wareable clothes, Well shoot you know what i had in school? 4 shirts i would wear, and 10 pairs of jeans but i only liked 3 of them. i wouldn't never wear the other ones. Not kidding, Pants has long there not dirty/ smelly feel free to wear them 3-5 days in a row. Shirts don't wear them back to back but who cares as it's not dirty/smelly, Who truelly going care?

If you want more shirts head over walmart they like 10 bucks and they will last you for a year easy.

i'm the person who could give a rats ass about clothes. i laugh at people who spend $80 on some pair of jeans, $200 on some shoes, 30-40 on shirts ect.

they could complain all they want im pretty sure they would just tell the parents "if you dont like it you can take your kid and put it in another school, and no refunds either"

you think they have not complained about uniforms in my school? and pretty much in every other school out there? for example in mine, girls have to wear skirts, they cant wear pants only if they have gym class that day, they dont like the skirts because some days are extremely cold or with a lot of wind so you know what happens when you mix those 2 with skirts, and they have complained countless times for years but the school hasnt changed the rules, if you dont like it the principal pretty much tells you to gtfo

nothing relevant to my size/weight, I just have a fast metabolism so im thin, my weight is 50kg and im like 1.70 meters, I should weight 60kg at least. so its hard to find clothes, the ones I like are usually very big, and the ones that fit perfectly are very childlish and I dont like to wear saggy clothes, I know they dont look bad on most people, but most people arent thin so even if they wear saggy clothes you can say "oh they are saggy but the guy is not thin" instead if I wear saggy people just think "oh my, the parents of that kid definitly dont feed him! poor boy he must be starving!" the shirt that fits best on me has a random eagle on it, which looks childlish to me, and also its extremely uncomfortable to wear. pants I dont complain, I like skinny jeans

Absolutely, they do. I Wear what i wear because I like it. Everyone can piss off. I took F's in gym because I refused to change my clothes. My look, hair, makeup, style is a part of me. Uniformed schools can kiss my ass. Ruining individuality. "Lets have everyone dress the same" Hello? How is that good?Im a guy, by the way.

the kids area? yeah so I should be wearing those shirts which say stuff like "SPORTS KID!" and have a huge basketball stamped in the front or all those childlish messages. as for the internet...I think its risky, in my country, the stuff from the internet takes like 2 weeks to arrive, and my brother sometimes order stuff from the internet and it turns out they are not even his size when they arrive, even though he clearly asked for shirts his size. some stores have crazy meassurements, I once bought a V cut shirt that was apparently XS, it has a huge XS inside of it, yet it almost reaches my knees...and I gave it to a friend who uses M shirt and it would look saggy on him

Isn't that a common argument? That uniforms make everyone the same; no one can be themselves, etc etc (which is part of the idea)

No, because all the kids at my school would just get angry and start rebelling. Uniforms would be more trouble than they're worth. Dress codes are definitely a must though.

I didnt wear my senior shirt in highschool because I didnt like how it fit. i dont give a damn about my college sports teams, colors, pride. Its all crap if you ask me. You can believe in it if you want, but I think the individual is most important. being yourself. Not going with the crowd and being driftwood.

Uniforms are terrible. Some people look like crap in uniforms and are stuck like that for 4 years. Imagine what that does to self esteem.

Forcing someone to wear something to make them represent a homogenous group is a perfect example of trying to squelch individualism.

[QUOTE="lightleggy"][QUOTE="DJ_Lae"] It's the main reason why private/Catholic schools use school uniforms.Rhazakna

emm no...they just want you to stick with the uniform because that way you represent your school while you wear it. they are not there to "crush individualism"

Forcing someone to wear something to make them represent a homogenous group is a perfect example of trying to squelch individualism.

clothes=individualism??? you're doing it wrong

I only attended a school that had a uniform for one year, but I liked it while I was there. It eliminated the need to agonize over clothing choices and it got rid of all the stupid drama that arises when you lets kids wear whatever they want to school (to see what I mean go look at the thread on here called something like "what are you wearing to school on your first day?" in which half of the replies are saying "omg you can't be serious you're going to wear that"). I really think it's dumb that in America most schools don't have uniforms. The idea that they limit individuality is stupid and something that would only make sense to a teenager. I mean, god forbid you have to start judging people based off of who they are instead of what they look like.

I'm pro-uniform, but here in the UK we teachers are fighting a losing battle over the way it's worn (untucked shirts, ties worn like scarves etc etc.). Sometimes there are bigger issues to deal with and the consequence is that you almost need to get rid of the uniform to make the kids look tidier.
