You have to be taking the p*ss. NZ has spewed forth so much in settlements for supposed grievances upon one of the most laughable terms ever drafted (Treaty of Waitangi) that it's possibly THE sole reason the economy is in the sh*tter. You will not find any country anywhere that has poured as much to one race as setlled NZ has to Maori. Even today, the greedy sh*ts are making claims for (and I'm NOT MAKING THIS UP) - tribal claim to the air that is in NZ, and sole tribal claim of the entirety of NZ's coastline.Australians have a higher standard of living, Higher Wages, Lower unemployment, Greater resources, Superior Universities, Better Infrastructure. Do what alot of Australian's do, Spend your working life in Australia and then retire and move to NZ.
Considering I live in Australia, I'd have to stick with Australia :P
I live in Bendigo right now, but I might like to live in a place like Melbourne or Sydney one day.
I would love to visit either place, but New Zealand has some of the most breath taking scenery I have ever seen, and this is just from TV and internet images. Can you imagine what it would look like in real life?
Plus New Zealand is a laid back place I hear, and it was where LOTR was filmed, so it wins by default :P
You can have it.. I don't like The Lord of the Rings anyway.. PI would love to visit either place, but New Zealand has some of the most breath taking scenery I have ever seen, and this is just from TV and internet images. Can you imagine what it would look like in real life?

It amusing to read so many people choosing NZ because of LOTRO :) Hey, Australia has The Matrix and Mad Max among others.FelipeInside
I've been to where Mad Max was filmed, Turns out it was actually a documentry.

Heck, we even have STAR WARS....

Yeah, the New Zealand government bends over backwards for Maori, and this in turn has caused resentment from a lot of non-Maori New Zealanders, but even then most of that resentment is aimed towards the greedy tribe/Iwi leaders who are more interested in stupid crap such as their perceived ownership of water as opposed to actual important issues facing Maori such as child abuse, health issues and so forth. These people saying NZ wins by default because of LOTR make me laugh. Peter Jackson and what he's doing for our film industry is one of the best things to happen to NZ in a long while, but it's hardly a reason to move here.Yeah, half the scenes in the first movie were filmed in Sydney. James Cameron seemed interested in moving to NZ though.
half the f***ing kiwis are in aus anyway it might just be tourists and the last of their jungle people left in new zealandcheese_game619
you might be interested to know that NZ has one of the fastest population growth rate in developed nations, faster than just about every country in Europe, and USA/Canada as well.
no actually, you know what we should do we bomb one island then when all the kiwis go back home from aus to mourn and whatnot we bomb that island cheese_game619

That's because he's working on Avatar 2 and Weta digital (who do the effects for the movie) is based in Wellington. Lots of celebrities own property in New Zealand but they never spend much time here. That's because he's working on Avatar 2 and Weta digital (who do the effects for the movie) is based in Wellington. Which is baffling.
It sounds like the only thing that would keep someone from wanting to be there is money issues. Independent wealth and property in New Zealand would turn me into an alien -- legal or illegal, whichever one were required.

I loved it there. If it hadn't been for responsibilities here I could not shrug off, I would have moved there permanently years ago.
I guess I am not as impressed with so many things to do. I just want a quiet life in an Eden-esque garden.
