While I would prefer not to, if I did I wouldn't be a moron and try to kill somebody who may kill me first. All crime is legal, so embezzling millions on Purge day and using that money to take a vacation during each future Purge day makes more sense than trying to kill random homeless people.

Besides, if we go by the rules established in the movie, high-level government officials are exempt from being Purged anyway, so all of you people who are thinking about offing some government official you hate can forget it.

@blueultimate: If we are assuming that the rules established in the movie would apply to real life most politicians would be exempted from being purged and you would still be hanged for killing your not-so-friendly neighborhood senator.

no, it's too risky to Purge on Purge Day, that means you have to wonder the streets with other murderers and gangs of psychotic lunatics... if I were going to (hypothetically) kill someone I'd do it when nobody was expecting on one of the other 364 days of the year when they're least expecting, and hope to simply get away with it

the Purge is more designed to get rid of things the socially and economically marginalized so that when they're dead there's no more poor people or homeless people or socially and/or economically marginalized people and thus only the prosperous are left

I'd avoid bunkering down in my home too, I'd go to a very defensible hidden rural location, with guns and ammo of course, and stick all my valuable home possessions in storage, or simply plan a vacation to Mexico or Canada
