A woman has spoken for the first time of the horror she felt on discovering her late husband was also her father.

Valerie Spruill from the US only made the horrifying discovery through a DNA test after her husband Percy had died.

The 60-year-old woman from a village called Doylestown of less than 3000 people in Wayne County, Ohio, opted to speak out about her disturbing family situation in the hope that it will inspire those going through a rough time, the Akron Beacon Journal reported.

Valerie said that Percy Spruill, married her mother when he was 15 and she is uncertain how many children they had though she is aware of six brothers.

Valerie was put in the care of her grandmother at three-months-old. It wasn't until the age of nine that Valerie discovered that it was her grandfather, not her father who was caring for her.

She also later found that one of three women who visited her from time-to-time was in fact her mother, Christine.

"I want this to be more of an inspirational story," Valerie told the Akron Beacon Journal

"If I've come through this, anyone can come through anything through the help of the Lord."

Valerie said she cannot be sure whether Percy was aware of the extent of their relationship, though she believes he understood but was too afraid to tell her.

In 2004, Valerie confirmed that her late husband was her father with the help of a DNA test.

She is still seeing a therapist to come to terms with the difficult revelation but said the story "needs to be told, because children need to know where they come from."

"And I know it hurts, because I have been devastated by this," she said.

Valerie said she decision to go public was in hope of finding more siblings.

Definetly a heart crushing case and I really feel for the lady but...ewwwwwwwww

considering the fact that she's still undergoing psychotherapy, the father must have been real good in bed which is i guess a complicative factor to deal with.

She must of thought there was a good chance they were related to have a DNA test, so why did she wait until he died to have one?

It's worth pointing out that if they had any children, those would technically also be her siblings.

MAURY!... MAURY! megagene

I know right? Hahaha. Fantastic.

Speaking of crazy family stories, I've got one that's not so much nasty as it is brutal. My grandfather, a toddler at the time, was the only survivor after hisfather snapped and killed the entire family, then set the house on fire and killed himself. My grandfather was rescued, and subsequently raised, by his two aunts, who told him they were his sisters his whole life. They told him the whole truth only a couple years before he died, which was about 3 years ago.

If they truly love each other, I see no problem with it. If their children is defective due to the higher risk of amplified family disease, then, that's unfortunate. The only problem I see is, why he didn't raise her when she was young? Is there any particular reason or he abandoned her?magicalclick
Wait you really don't have a problem with this guy not raising his daughter and then like 40 years later strolls along and marries her?
