Looks pretty good but I doubt it'll be any better than Origins...

Are you kidding me? Origins wasn't that good..
One question though: Does this story takes place after Wolverine joins the X-Men or before?
Since musicman's link is broken.. [ They took their time on this one.sammyjenkis898That looks like ass. What the hell did Fox do, let an intern run wild on Photoshop?!
Just seen it, surely this one will be better than Origins. I'm liking the trailer.
I think this is set after the events of X-Men 3.
It looks...okay, but something about it still seems off for some reason--I can't out my finger on it. After The Last Stand and Origins, I've given up on the X-Men movies.

But First Class came after those and is easily the best X-Men movie to date...

To be fair, I passed on watching First Class after the last two films films wound up being so disappointing, so I can't pass judgement on that one. I heard good things about it, though.I remember this same level of hype for Origins and look how that turned out. Wolverine is a cool character but I honestly don't think they will ever get that guy right in a movie.Â
Looks better than Origins to me. Origins was really only good in the first half, maybe a little more. The entire last 25% was bad.

It looks pretty questionable and if it turns out around the level of awfulness as the 'Origins' film then I'll probably just watch it lazily sometime down the line when it hits Netflix n' such.Â

It's better, but it's just a professional Photoshop job. Â It's rare to see some really kick-ass movie posters these days, and that not just for this movie, but in general.
Am I the only one that actually liked Origins?Shottayouth13-I liked it too. I accepted it for what it was, just a cheaply made action film.

They get a pass on that poster in my eyes because the original theatrical poster with just the black paint was pretty great if you ask me.Â
As for the trailer. Looks better than Origins, and the direct and his influences for the film are enough to keep me interested.Â

Same here.
At the same time though, I'm getting quite tired of the Wolvering wank fest. The trilogy was about Wolverine. They sacked everyone else, especially Cyclops. He's suppose to be the leader yet he didn't really get any big parts.[QUOTE="LostProphetFLCL"][QUOTE="Hallenbeck77"]

Yeah, exactly. Those posters are certainly well-polished (I'd almost say TOO polished, they look "overcooked"), but there's just no originality. Compare those to the posters for The Dark Knight, this stuff is all just starting to look exactly the same. It's better, but it's just a professional Photoshop job.  Unfortunately X-men First Class had alot of cheese in quite a few areas..Â

Hmm...well this revelation changes things.[QUOTE="MrGeezer"][QUOTE="Hallenbeck77"]Yeah, exactly. I wish the studios would maybe hire an artist to do some of their poster work, a la Frank Frazetta. Or maybe even something that's low key and not all super slick. Sometimes, less is truly more. I used to hang out on AICN for a while, and occasionally they'd host some studio-sponsored contest. Like, "all amateur artists! Make a poster for this movie, and the winners will get their posters used for the movie!" I think the studio that did Killer Joe did something like that. And every time I see that happening, I just shake my head in disappointment. One problem with artists is that they devalue the $*** out of their own work. Here we have a multi-million dollar studio refusing to HIRE an actual artist, and instead profiting off of artist's work while paying them nothing more than "exposure". On one hand, it's not my place to tell artists that they shouldn't just give away their work. It's their work, it's their right to do with it as they please. But on the other hand, some of this amateur crap is actually pretty damn good. And it sort of annoys me to see studios profiting from such art while essentially paying nothing, while the people whose JOB it is to make promotional art keep on making derivative unoriginal $*** that all ends up looking exactly the same. Regarding Wolverine, those two most recent posters look good. I'm not saying that they're crap. They are highly polished, they are professional looking, they don't look bad. But man...holy $***, that's the exact same kind of poster that EVERYONE does these days. It's good, it's definitely not bad, but it's also BORING. It's just the same old $***. I like that black and white "charcoal" looking drawing poster of the Wolverine movie. I'm sure one can critique the merits of that just as much, but I far prefer that. Firstly, because it DOESN'T look slick. It looks rough (or at least "faux-rough") and unpolished, and that is more in line with the actual CHARACTER. When I think of Wolverine, I don't think of "slick" or "sexy". I think of dirty, rough, and mean. Secondly, it's minimalistic as hell, and how often do you see that on posters? If nothing else, THAT poster grabs my attention when I walk into the cinema because it looks unlike every other poster in the building. It's better, but it's just a professional Photoshop job. Â It's rare to see some really kick-ass movie posters these days, and that not just for this movie, but in general.

In Mangold's defense I think he's made more good movies than bad ones. But yeah this movie could go either way and it should be better than Origins which isn't that hard to do in the first place.
