Disney seems to be running out of ideas. Will you be checking it out, OT?
As a huge fan of the original Little Mermaid, NO! I don't care how accurate they tried to make it, Ariel was horribly casted and thus -- the entire movie is ruined. I don't know how Disney could mess up something as simple as this movie.
No, I don't really do live-action musicals.
And frankly I'm sort of done with Disney. Obviously I'll watch Star Wars stuff but the days of me going "Ooooh new Pixar, ooooh new Disney, ooooooh new _" are over.
They killed the magic via stagnation. They have all that talent and all they can do is make live-action remakes? Sheeeeeesh.
As someone mentioned, their live action remakes have not had a good track record; the worst offenders being Mulan and Lion King, especially Mulan. But seeing trailers for this remake with my girlfriend when we went to see Guardians 3, the movie seemed pretty good! I’d definitely be down giving it a watch. Now if they try to propagate crap to me, I’ll pass. So right now, I suppose the best option would be to wait and see what people think about the film and see what Disney added to it. 🤷♂️
@SargentD Wasn’t their last attempt with that the Princess and the Frog? If memory serves, that movie didn’t do too well for them. I saw the movie years later on dvd and thought it was a pretty good movie.
I don't really want to, not much of a fan of the live action remakes. But my daughter was asking to go, so I may be outta luck.
The animated films were fine and not needing of a transition into live action. IMO the Disney of the 70s and 80s is watchable in terms of film even beyond animation like Tron, The Black Hole, etc..,
Usually what ends up happening with these live action remakes is I see them because other people in my life want to. So, probably I will end up seeing it, but not because I'm necessarily wanting to do so.
haven't seen any of the live action remakes but my daughters love the 80's version. we'll be seeing this one as well.
Maybe when my niece comes to visit I'll see if she wants to, I think she's not quite out of her Baby Shark phase.
My 8 year old niece loved The Little Mermaid when she was 2 years old. My mom wants to take them to see it though glad I am not seeing it with them.
Nope, I watched the live action version of Pinocchio, it wasn’t bad but they tamed it down way too much compared to the original movie and story. I don’t usually watch new Disney movies though unless it sparks some nostalgia for me.
No, I was done with Disney's remakes after the Lion King. Every remake I had seen up to that point had already been inferior to the original, but Lion King felt like a massive step down. When Disney announced the Little Mermaid, I had zero interest and still hold to that.
