Usually the the people who are against Islamic people are also really harsh towards illegal immigrants.
In a nutshell, they are racist pigs that completely deny it.
Did you just imply that those against illegal immigration are racist pigs?Usually the the people who are against Islamic people are also really harsh towards illegal immigrants.

You should not have made this thread.makaveli_89Crap you're right. I accidentally made a religion thread.
I don't usually bother arguing with clearly bigoted posts. I just report them. However, there is a fine line between arguing about the beliefs of a religion and making unsubstantiated claims about a religion or its followers. The former I consider fair game for discussion, and so obviously does Gamespot.
Also, race is a rather arbitrary thing that is almost entirely in peoples' heads whereas religion is a deliberate choice in lifestyle. I so hate it when people compare the two, as they are not even remotely the same thing in my mind. I know that people who are intolerant based on one tend to be intolerant based on the other as well, but that doesn't mean they are closely related conceptually.

No, I just pointed out an observation. Also, I said "harsly" towards illegals.
Honestly, the only religion that gets bashed here consistently is Christianity.
You can say all you want about Jesus and Christians, but if you say something against the Jews, Muslims or Buddhist your an intolerant bigot.
How about its not okay to bash ANY OF THEM!

Yeah, because people routinely call Christianity a religion of hatred. Totally.
Maybe it is brought up more because it is the dominant religion where most of the posters on the site are from, and it's also the one that keeps getting politicized in the U.S. with nonsense like teaching Creationism in public schools? Maybe it's because the vast majority of people on here who claim that evolution is false are self-proclaimed Christians? Nah, it couldn't be any of that.
Would you care to give an example of something "intolerant" towards Christianity that is accepted? And simply arguing that its beliefs are untrue is not intolerant.
I think the religion is a step back for human development. It glorifies unequality of woman, brainwashes many people to do terrorism, and I'm just not a big fan of religion in general. CruxisXIII
but i think most religions say basically be good to your fellow man

CruxisXIIIAll religions are backwards in a large capacity, but you can't make such a misinformed generalization. The religion itself doesn't promote any of those things.
Then why is it in all Muslim populated countries, women have next to no rights?CruxisXIIIBecause of local custom. From what I've heard it has little to do with the actual religion. I have Muslim friends, who have explained the basis of their beliefs, and it's an extreme far cry from the extremist philosophy. Defining Islam with extremists is like defining Christianity with the Westboro Baptist Church. It doesn't work.

You mean like how women couldn't generally vote in the United States until 1920? I realize that quite some time ago, but I'd hardly say it was becuase the United States was a country with a majority Muslim population...
I'm no theologian.
But from wha I can tell, the three Abrahamic religions are pretty similar -- they have similar views about marriage, the family, the sanctity of life, the afterlife, stewardship etc.
I just don't think that the three are massivley different.

I've never heard anyone call Christianity "a religion of death", but I've heard that said a few times about Islam. What Boba-Fett said also reminded me that most islamophobes are american, patriotic, and hate "liberals" and the "liberal media".

I disagree, I think religion should be wiped from the face of the earth. Religion is counter productive to the entire human race and we would be much better off without it. You can be a moral and just individual without all the widespread death and destruction that religion creates.
1. Christians slaughtering pagans (315 - 6th century)
2. Christians slaughtering Muslims (Crusades)
3. Muslims slaughtering Christians (Crusades)
4. Christians torturing and killing "heretics" (Inquisition, witch trials)
5. Christians burning books, heavy metal records, etc.
6. Muslims calling for the death of an author they didn't like (Rushdie)
7. Christians supporting slavery on biblical grounds (~ American Civil War)
8. Christians opposing suffrage on biblical grounds
9. Muslims calling for death to all Christians and Jews (cartoon rage)
10. Jews and Muslims killing each other (from the origin of Israel to present)
11. Christians bombing abortion clinics
12. Muslim terrorism in America (WTC, 9/11)
13. Christians slaughtering Jews (throughout history)
14. Christians slaughtering Native Americans
For more information about the consequences of religion, see Victims of the Christian Faith and The Root Causes of Religious Atrocities. Looking for other examples? Check out this page.
Even if religion has brought (false) hope, (false) comfort, (false) optimism about the future, a willingness to accept one's fate (and not rock the boat of the ruling ****, and has been used to explain why some people do good things (people who would be good people with or without superstition), this pales in comparison to the long and distinguished history of religious atrocities. For the sake of humanity, it is time to let go of this destructive superstition.

CruxisXIIIu should study Islam in more detail, and i think u'll find it actually unifies people. Islam gave rights to women 1500 yrs ago when in Britain, America, etc at the time women were seen as possesions!

The Qur'an clearly states that women are inferior to men. It also says it's ok to give your wife "light" beatings among other disgusting things that secularism has gotten rid of in the West.
Just like the Bible the Qur'an gives women slave status, the difference is that most Middle-Eastern Muslims are fundamentalists (and they elect fundamentalists as can be plainly seen) and some of them go as far as believing the Earth is flat because the Qur'an says it.
Islamophobia would be an irrational fear of Islam (the Runnymede definition is preposterous and exactly the type of bulls*** I'm talking about, so I'll just take the literal interpretation of the word) and if you're disgusted by Islamic nations' misogyny, homophobia or their extremely harsh penalties then that's not irrational because Islam is misogynistic, homophobic and has ridiculous punishments for the slightest offenses.
Here's a little picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Protesters2006.jpg.
Doesn't prove anything, but this is the general sentiment in fundamentalist Islam I have found.
To summarize my point I'll just say that raising a legitimate criticism is not the same as being prejudiced, you need to see the difference, because Western politicians seem to be extremely eager to get down on their knees for Islam's erection.
I mean you guys bash anyone who's anti-Semetic or racist, but never anyone who's Islamophobic. Why?newman12-18what does Islamaphobie and semetic mean
