It seems to me like a sport that has so much potential for causing brain damage to your opponent (and possibly even death) shouldn't be legal.
Just listening to Mike Tyson try to string together a sentence is reason enough to outlaw the sport IMO.

People will also pay to watch someone get murdered on TV, but that doesn't make it legal.Market demand. People will pay to see it.

Murder isn't a sport.
Boxing isn't any more or less violent than rugby, football or any other contact sport. And remember that UFC and other mixed-martial arts use much more than fists.
So we need to hold everybody's hand and tell them what they can and can't do for entertainment? Especially if there are no real victims.
If two people want to beat the crap out of each other, completely understanding the consequences, let them.
Hell if we are going to ban this, let's ban every harmful activity that is victimless.
Have to disagree with that; boxers are more at risk of getting concussions than are football and ruby players (has something to do with the physics involved).Boxing isn't any more or less violent than rugby, football or any other contact sport.

But with that said I am a boxing fan and I don't think it should be illegal.
Two consenting men choose to fight in the ring, if it is too much for one of them they can quit.
People can get injured or die in many ways not related to boxing, I think there are better questions to ask, such as why smoking is still legal.

Me too. I admit, they do have a higher risk. Same goes for mixed martial arts sports. No one is forcing you to participate

Because it's fun to watch and it's great exercise.
Those who want it banned are just pu$$ies who can't enjoy a great sport simply because of a few bad apples such as Mike Tyson and the concept of beating the other person into submission. Tyson's a great boxer though but just crazy after that ear incident.
He was crazy well before that.Because it's fun to watch and it's great exercise.

We already have to deal with PETA nuts. We don't need any more trying to act like there's a PETA for people. PETP. Whinin about boxing and football. Go hug some trees and sing Koombaya in your delusional fantasy realm of world peace.
If you're the best fighter in the world like Floyd you wouldn't get brain damage AussieePetJust look at Ali, and tyson, they both speak with that "boxer's slur", that's why you gotta make as much money as possible while you're young, because you're gonna pay for it in your mid-late years.
Parkinson's is typically from trauma to the head, and given his occupation, I'm sure they're related.Speaking of.....does anyone know if Ali's parkinson's is in any way related to damage he sustained boxing?

I knew it was speculated that head trauma could be a cause, but I wasn't sure if that had ever been conclusively determined.

The best boxer in the world is still gonna get punched in the head a lot, so brain damage is always a possibility. It's simply a hazard of the occupation.
Yeah but he wouldn't get knocked out tho since he is untouchablePlease Log In to post.
