Why don't DC/Marvel heroes have 'named' attacks?

KAMEHAMEHAAA!!!

I know most of you will say its pretty stupid to shout out your attack's name before even attacking but we're talking about Goku, I'm sorry.

I too admit that sometimes its a bit cringeworthy but when the adrenaline starts rushing through your veins and there's no one else around, you can't help but raise your arms and scream "FALCON PUNCH!!!" in front of the TV.....admit it, we all did and we still get urges to do that. On the other hand, we have DC/Marvel heroes who don't name their attacks or if they do, they don't scream em. Thus the usual TV boy wouldn't know the name of the attacks so he can't play fighting with his friends at school by saying "SUPER PUNCH!" or whatever.

I also have noticed that it helps popularize the show even more. So why don't DC/Marvel heroes name their attacks?

I imagine it has to do with that not being a trope western animation grew up with.

This was largely a manga/anime convention, although I couldn't tell you why it's considered normal there and not in US comics or animated shows/movies.

Do you see Kobe or Shack shouting their special moves when they go kaboom??? No???? That's your reason.

Only chatty one like Spidy and Deadpool would joke about their moves that no one wants to hear.

No one insults the spidey. Got it?

This is the correct answer. Anime/Manga does this well but it does get's annoying though. Hearing Goku saying Kamahamah get's annoying but it's also the way Japanese handle it well or worst. Here in the U.S, DC/Marvel don't need to do that since you'll get the idea what the hero's will do and name attacking will give there surprise attacks away to the villains. Don't wanna hear Superman say, Laser Beam.

@megane: Marvel vs Capcom game is developed by Capcom in Japan which is why Marvel call out there name attacks but it never bother me anyways since I enjoy Marvel vs Capcom games.

It would be funny to hear Kobe screaming "360 under the legs reverse spin!!!!!!!" while running to the basket.

(Of course all of Shaq's dunks would have the same name; "The Rim Buster"...I had another name for it but I would probably get fired)

I was sparring with a friend of mine who yelled out "REVERSE PUNCH!" and then popped me in the face with a jab instead. I felt pretty stupid.

As has been said, it is a Japanese convention for media.

I would be okay with people announcing attacks if it made them stronger.

It doesn't fit western animation; I'm not sure whether it's the contents or the language, or both maybe.

I've always been enamored of attacks' names in anime. I still remember many of the jutsus in Naruto; I used to flip in excitement whenever Orochimaru would say Edo Tensei, or when Nagato would say Shinra Tensei. What would Spiderman say? Sticky web? Or that guy with the glasses in X-men, laser beam? come on -_-

No need. Naming attacks are lame.
