Classic.

A nerd is someone who is very focused in a field and doesn't let minor issues distract him from it. A nerd has a lot of affinity with concepts that are not easy to grasp but doesn't flaunt it like it's something to brag about.

A geek is someone who tries to follow in the nerds' wake but fails miserably to do so, so he falls back on less mind-stressing, more casual things.

Is it any surprise that a group of people that stereotypically spends very little time outdoors or exercising, doesn't keep up to date with modern fashion, either focuses on vegetable heavy diets or otherwise doesn't bother with food intake, spends most of their waking hours reading/using an electronic device and doesn't socialize as much as the average person ends up having bad eyesight, low muscle mass, poor fitness, poor hair and skin quality, poor dress sense and a high degree of lethargy?
