Why do most men hate cats?

I never really understood this. Most guys hate cats just to hate them..for no reason at all. Is it a macho thing? Is it a insecurity thing?

Some of my younger friend still cling to the myth that cats are nasty and if you pet them they will give you ringworms! I always had the impression that dogs were nastier. And cats usually don't **** all over your house.

I can't really tell you why...I hated cats as well since I was a kid, guess it's kinda grows on you ;)

Cats are just annoying. Friend of mine had a cat, would jump into my lap with crawls ready... ouch! Then when would sleep over, darn thing would wake me up early in the morning by jumping into my lap. Cats are just more self centered. Can snap my fingers and my dog will come to me and jump in my lap for petting. Do the same with a cat and it will ignore you, come later on when you dont want it.

Also my dog takes #2 outside and only outside. Why would I want an animal to take #2 in my house inside some box?! Now thats nasty.

Easy, cats are perceived as un-masculine. They also aren't needy like dogs in that they don't need constant attention and affection. Men like the idea of having a 'best friend' and a dog fits that more than a cat.

I for one am not a big fan of cats.

I like cats...i just dont trust them...the way they are all silent and pace about doing what they want...always have this look of "im gonna kill you in your sleep" on their face..+ claws :P

Cats don't respond to people enough for most guys. Their contrary nature is especially infuriating. I used to be a cat-only guy until I adopted some well-balanced dogs, and now I'll never go back.

I dont like cats. One reason is that everytime i've been around cats they try and rub up against my leg, also dogs are more stiffer, cats are very light and i dont want to accidently kill one.mosa922

Dogs not only rub against my leg, they also try to have sex with my leg.

Then they slobber on my shoes and leave dirty paw prints on my jeans.

I have a cat, and I usually like it. Though he acts like a dog alot of the time....

cats are cool. but my gf is allergic so i can't have one..

I don't mind them as long as they don't go slash-slash-hisk all over me.

I love cats. I have two of them. I also love dogs, and have one of them. I think they are all fantastic.

I was always more of a dog person. Then once I got a cat, I fell in love with them as well.

I think a lot of people that don't like them have never had the opportunity to be around any of them for a decent amount of time. Then there are people who just don't like animals for some reason. And then many people are allergic to them. A variety of factors there.

I like cats but I cant have one, I already have a pet
