I don't know why you would adapt Life on Mars and ruin it, I agree. It was perfect as it is, then they butchered it.

More like the television producers and actors are looking to make money. It's not just America I'm sure you can find a version of the show in most countries, if not there are other examples. The Chan Chan Clan anyone? Bad example, but damned funny.

1. The show needed to be adapted for the audience, but more important it needed to be extended. The average season here runs about 22 to 24 episodes. The british series was way to short here. 2. Americans watch plenty or shows from overseas and have been watching British shows like Monty Python for decades. 3. We didn't ruin the show, it's perfectly fine. 4. How and Why did we "ruin" it? Or is it because british think only they can do it right? The show is good and very well done. Dare I say....On par with the Brit version?

If you don't like the show, then don't watch it. Simple. I never understood the reasoning behind complaining about remakes and such. Besides, there are other countries who remake American shows...hell, there's 10 different international versions of Married...With Children alone, who knows how many other shows are remade.

If anything, remakes will probably get people interested the original source material. Recent example, The Office. I wasn't aware it was a remake of an British program, and it made me curious enough to see it for myself.

What is Life on Mars?

How did the US ruin it?

And why cant I understand you? Its like I listen to you, see your lips move, but all I can hear is "Please sir may I have some more?" and " allo der ittle baybay"

You guys need to speak american, then you would be more understandabable

Those are stereotypes sir, especially the cockney one. Not everyone over there talks like that.

Thank you, kind sir, for taking my post seriously. Because, you know, I was 100%...no, over 9000% (!!!!!!) serious!

On that note, I did hear some pretty interesting accents/dialect when I visited Cornwall. Does that even count as English?

I haven't seen either version. =X

What America really butchered though was Kath and Kim. While I rarely even watch, let alone like, the original Australian version, the American version doesn't even get the concept of the show, let alone try and either a) replicate the Australian charatcers or b) emulate it's own American characters. The girl that plays Kim is waaaaay hot though, so good on her for that.

I haven't seen the British version of the office, but I suspect I'd like the American one more, since I love it. =)

Life of Mars was awesome. The Gene Genie was one of the best creations in the history of TV (IMO!! :D) However, I suspect that the people who created Life on Mars and who are also responsible for the American version thought that perhaps a provincial programme set in 1970s Manchester would not translate very well over the pond and have therefore remade it with a US audience in mind. I haven't seen the US version, so can't comment, but I suspect that it is still pretty good. Perhaps you are not familiar with the references from the US version in much the same way an American would not be familiar with our version?!? Just thought!

Oh what the hell? Why would they do this?! Life on Mars was one of the best things to happen to TV. The actors were part of what made it so amazing, and replacing them would kind of gut the show.

Life on Mars in America is really not that bad, i have seen every episode. It is by far not my favorite series but it is not terrible. I do not understand your reasoning in complaining. Obviousuly you will not like it, it is like replacing the whole cast of CSI, it would NEVER be the same. Does not mean it ruined the show, it just means ours is different...you still have yours though. Watch your own version and i will enjoy mine.
