Why cant movies release on Pay Per View the same day as the Theatrical Release?

What prevents this from happening?

Surely there are plenty that would prefer enjoying movies at the comfort of their homes with say their 70" HDTVs + Home Theatre sound systems.

And if money is the issue, couldn't movie companies find an acceptable fee for offering such privilege? (e.g. $100 per view, etc..)

I would imagine financial reasons, both for the studio and the theater.
