Han could've dodged the shot. He could've been the one to shoot second, he just didn't.

Maybe Greedo was a terrible shot, and Han had superior reaction skills.

He was more aggressive at the time, making him the first to shoot and the first to miss.

Actually my theory is that they shot at the same time, but the camera only showed Han dodging Greedos shot and shooting him.

He was more aggressive at the time, making him the first to shoot and the first to miss.

Greedo shot him at point blank, with the gun aiming directly at Han's head. The explanation? Those guys with the flutes. They blew so hard into those things that it caused the lazer to fly to the right a bit. Then, Han noticed this in the split second and used this to shoot Greedo.

I was all happy when I saw Greedo in the thread title, but then it was just another stupid "who shot first, Han or Greedo or Gnarls Barkley" thread. :(

Greedo was aimed at an alien fly, almost biting Han. Han should be pleased that Greedo saved his life.

In the original 1979 release, Han shot first. Some crybaby whiners said Han Solo was evil for doing that or something. That's why if you look closely you can see a skip in the frame when Han Solo moves his head like the exorcist and Greedo shoots marginally quicker.

So yes, in the original cut, Han shot first, in the rerelease in the 90s Greedo did.

Or maybe...blaster technology had its drawbacks.....like an off-center shot every once in a while? That sounds a little more appealing, personally.

The versions of Star Wars released between 1977 and 1995 had Han shoot greedo in the cantina without Greedo firing a shot. 1997 and subsequent releases have greedo shooting first and han shooting back, but since the footage was "paused" to add greedo's laser blast (which is somehow a well aim shot that misses) it looks really fake. The 2004 and 2006 DVD versions look a little better than the 1997 and 1999 VHS copies though.

Of course he didn't! It's been awhile since I've seen the movie, but I'm pretty sure the first blaster shot you hear and see is when Han dodges Greedo's shot, and you hear another one after, which is obviously Han's shot.

Lol, I remember watching that frame by frame. Apparently Han has Gumby super powers in the remake. :| That's the main reason why I refuse to buy any Star Wars DVDs besides the original editions.
