For me, it would probably be Chris Brown, LMFAO, and Kesha. Who are yours?

At the moment, Nicki Minaj.. She went from having potential to just throwing it all away in less than two years after she was recognized..
Pink. Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and pop acts like them certainly have their faults but at least they embrace the fact that they're really glamorized pop stars. Pink is just as manufactured and fake as Katy Perry is except she acts like she's the "rebellious" one. Her music is worse than Katy Perry's, too.
Also Miley Cyrus has maybe the worst voice I've ever heard. Who the f*ck told her she can sing?
By music being labelled pop(ular) it's automatically mainstream.
And most of it is just awful
Blueresident87
no, it is mostly how it is structured and sound.
I cannot answer this as I do not listen to any pop music.
WhiteKnight77
You're so hardcore and alternative.

No, not actually. The term 'pop music' started out to describe music that is popular, even though these days it has become a genre all its own.Â
I separate fan base from the media. Why I am able to enjoy breaking bad so muchDavesAltThanks for the insight Dave

....but in the 1960's pop music was probably far superior:
Windy - The Association (Breaking Bad fans will appreciate this video)
Crimson and Clover - Tommy James and the Shondells
Crystal Blue Persuasion - Tommy James and the Shondells (also used in Breaking Bad)
Something in the Air - Thunderclap Newman
Pleasant Valley Sunday - The Monkees
With a Girl Like You - The Troggs (The band also gave us Wild Thing)
Love is all around - The Troggs (pretty much a theme song for the 60's)
Happy Together - The Turtles
Up Up and Away - 5th Dimension
Aquarius/Let the sunshine in - 5th Dimension
plenty more I could add but thats a taste of 60's pop (not rock)

Back in the late 60s, early 70s I did listen to Top 40 radio stations, but they often played some hard rock too. And yes, pop music, typically what you would find on a Top 40 radio station, was much better than it is today. Once disco started invading the Top 40, I moved to the FM dial and Album Oriented Rock and the godliness of songs that lasted more than 3 minutes.Â
