Where's "the line" for you?

What I mean is, when you're watching a comedian or comedy show, what is that point where you go from :lol: to :o or even :x?

I'll give you an example. Last Friday, my school hosted the Gabriel Iglesias Fluffy Tour show and I went with a couple friends. One of the friends I was with was laughing at all the racial jokes and what-not. Then one of the opening acts made a crack at "special" people. He referred to them as "retards" and what not, and my friend got this horrible angry look on her face. She just kept going "he shouldn't have made that joke. That's not right.", blah, blah, blah.

So again, I ask. At what point do you think someone has crossed the dreaded "line"?

It's hard for me to say really. It might depend on the comedian or just the response of the rest of the audience...

I can't say, but I know it when I feel it.

If something is funny then something is funny. It's a joke for a reason it isn't meant to be taken seriously, i'm okay with almost everything.

"The line" for me is when the joke is just plain mean-spirited or not funny. A racial joke which makes fun of the concept of racism is completely fine, one that actually supports racism is not.

And jokes that suck are just offensive to the intelligence of the audience.

Holocaust jokes. Other than that, everything is fair game for me!

If there's a comedian who pokes fun at all ethnic groups except for his own, I'm not a fan. I liked someone like Dave Chappelle because he made fun of everybody (including himself) so nobody could really be offended. Jokes about "retards" can be in pretty bad taste too.

the thing of it is, many people are ignorant and will laugh at almost anything. As long as their is no personal connection to a tasteless joke, it is fair game and so haha funny.

When things get repetitive and stupid. If all the jokes about somebody who's a certain race are that they are that race, that's not really funny, just kind of annoying. XilePrincess

As long as it's not in a cruel way against disabled people I'm fine. At that point, it's not even funny.
